The Weeride Safefront Deluxe Bike Seat

Last month we were sent the number 1 selling bike seat in the UK and the US, the Weeride Safefront Deluxe Bike Seat. I had recently got a new bike myself as now Oscar has learnt to ride I thought it would be nice to go on family bike rides over the Summer as we have lovely cycling paths by the canal near us.

I got the Weeride Safefront Deluxe Bike Seat out of its box and it is simple and easy to fit on to your bike. It is centre mounted on the bike frame and is seriously sturdy once fitted!  The cushions are really padded within the seat to keep your little one nice and comfortable and supported and there is also a padded head rest on the front of the seat too so if you little one nods off on the bike ride they can sleep in comfort, which is a great idea!

The Weeride seat is recommended for children aged from 1-4 years. Once the seat is fitted in seconds you can take it off leaving the main support bar on so you can ride without your child too. You can also slide the seat into several positions on the support bar to make riding as comfortable and as safe for you as possible.

I love that with the Weeride Archie gets a great view of what is going on around us rather than some seats that just show them your back. Also I can easily chat to Archie the whole time and this was especially great on our first bike ride as he kept looking at me for reassurance.

On the seat there is a 5 point safety strap and movable footrests for extra child safety and also stops their legs dangling which could get in the way of you riding.

Overall the Weeride is easy to fit and really easy to use. Cycling is great fun and now we can go out whenever we want as Archie loves being in the seat. I will also be using it during the week as it gets warmer to get fit and I can take Archie with me rather than going to the gym in the evenings.

The Weeride Safefront Deluxe Bike Seat has an RRP of £119.99 but is reduced at the moment to £99.99 with free shipping. So grab your discounted seat now.

The Power Of Skin To Skin

*This is a paid advertorial for WaterWipes

WaterWipes recognises that skin to skin bonding is absolutely vital for newborn babies. In their latest video campaign, they’re aiming to prove just how powerful the bond between mother and child truly is. I had caesareans with both Oscar and Archie and it was so important to me that we were given skin to skin contact as soon as possible. As soon as we were home I always made sure when feeding or when we were relaxing at home I always had Oscar or Archie laying on my chest often snuggled in bed together to encourage the bonding process between us as much as possible.

WaterWipes have put together a lovely film which through an experiment they have shown clearly the natural power a new mum has to care for her baby. Using infrared filming techniques and equipment to monitor heart rate, breathing and blood oxygen levels, it captures for the first time the biological response to skin to skin contact. The film makes visible the innate ‘superpower’ that every mum has to stabilise her baby’s biology when held in the skin to skin position. The experiment was conducted in collaboration with three first time new mums by world renowned skin to skin expert Dr Susan Ludington.

After watching this lovely film it will show you how amazing nature really is and that all your newborn baby really needs is you…. their Mummy! World-renowned expert on skin to skin Dr Susan Ludington comments that, scientifically, your skin on baby’s skin is a potent combination and can do something absolutely amazing for your baby. I was so surprised watching it how the little baby’s heart beat and vital stats went up and responded when they had skin to skin contact with their Mothers. Dr Susan explains that mums’ bodies are extraordinary. We spend nine months making and then give birth to our baby. Then once baby is born, a mother’s body continues to do incredible things for her baby – she even has the power to regulate baby’s biology simply by holding her baby skin to skin.

This video has made me feel that as a Mother by giving both my boys the most skin to skin contact as possible as newborns along with breastfeeding that I have given them the best start to life that I possibly could have. So get cuddling your newborns. As if you needed more of an excuse to snuggle up with them!

My Clean 9 Forever Living Aloe Vera Detox

A couple of weeks ago I completed the Clean 9 Aloe Vera detox from Forever Living. Back in July when we were in Tenerife I brought a bottle of the Aloe Vera gel to use for sunburn as a lady around the pool was telling me all about it and how she drinks it everyday and the amazing health benefits that it has. Since then it was something that I looked into and when my close friend Emily became a Forever Living agent a few months ago I met her for a coffee so she could tell me all about it. Emily told me all about the products and I instantly wanted to try the C9 and detox my body and do something for myself to help me look and feel good about my body after having two babies. I have recently started back at the gym so the detox complimented my new fitness regime perfectly. I also loved that getting the C9 through Emily rather than just buying it online through Forever has given me a great online support group with other ladies taking on the C9 and also Emily at the end of the phone whether it be a simple question to reordering some gel.

Forever Living C9 Clean 9 Detox Aloe Vera Cleanse clear 9 Diet Weight Loss Plan

So what is Aloe and what does it do?

It is detoxifying, which is where the C9 comes in which is a total body detox that you complete over a 9 day period. The programmes aim is to cleanse your baby and adjust your mind set and two weeks on I can promise you it has completely adjusted my mind set! After the 9 days I lost 7lbs and am determined to stay at this weight and have completely changed the way I eat.

The Aloe vera juice is crammed full of amino acids, vitamins and minerals making it one of nature’s most effective cleansers, I noticed after a few days that my skin and hair looked and felt better and generally felt better in myself too. ‘The Aloe can help strengthen digestion and rid the body of any nasty waste detoxifying the body naturally,’ rather than using nasty chemicals or contraptions. Its main property is to be soothing, cooling and moistening which helps to clear inflammatory and irritating heat, such as in menopause, plus inflammatory skin and digestive problems, such as acne, rosacea and IBS.’ On holiday I also used it for sunburn as it’s soothing and cooling properties cleared it up quickly. It is much better than anything like that I had used before and will be taking a bottle with us whenever we go away.

Aloe vera is packed full of immune-boosting polysaccharides which help the immune system to work properly and efficiently. ‘Too much inflammation in the body can cause problems with the immune system and can cause conditions like asthma, eczema and Crohn’s disease. I suffer with eczema on my hands and no steroid cream really works and if it does it has always been a quick fix. Since drinking the gel on a daily basis I have noticed a huge difference in the skin on my hands and it really shows you that the Aloe works from the inside out. I have also been using a Aloe based moisturiser and have had compliments about my skin.

Aloe also lowers cholesterol and blood sugar levels, meaning it can be useful for treating diabetes and obesity. Aloe is also worth trying for anyone who suffers with digestion problems like IBS. A few people that I know that drink the gel and suffer from IBS and they have all told me how much it has changed their lives.

Drinking the Aloe Vera gel is also a very easy way to boost your vitamin and mineral intake. I also make sure that the boys take their vitamins everyday but always forget about myself. The Aloe vera juice is packed with vitamins A, C, E, B1, B2, B3, B6, B12 and folic acid. It’ is rich in minerals like calcium, magnesium, zinc, iron, selenium and potassium. After the first day I noticed the difference from taking the right vitamins to how I felt before. Archie is a bad sleeper so taking the right vitamins I need don’t leave me feeling shattered anymore. Result!

The Clean 9 (C9)

So like I mentioned above I have completed the C9. In your pack is 2 bottles of the drinking gel, 9 sticks of Forever fibre, Forever shake mix which comes in a variety of different flavours, 18 Forever Therm tablets, a tape measure and shaker and 54 soft gels. Along with your easy step by step guide.

As a basic round up what you do is for the first two days is you drink 120ml of the gel at breakfast along with your therm tablet and softgels, 1 Fibre for a snack, lunch is 2 softgels, 1 therm tablet and 120ml of drinking gel and dinner is 120ml of gel and 2 softgels then an 120ml of gel in the evening. The first two days were hard but I snacked on cucumber and oranges as they are on the list of free foods. It wasn’t the not eating that I found hard it was routine. When making Oscar and Archie food or Greg’s meal in the evening was when I struggled the most but stayed focus. Days 3 to 9 are so much easier as you are used to drinking the gel by now and can add either a 600 calorie lunch or dinner in to the plan too. We don’t really eat red meat at home so eating a healthy meal was easy as we love chicken and fish.

I exercised throughout the 9 days from walking to circuit training and felt amazing! My favourite bit was on Day 1, 3, 6 and 9 taking and comparing my weight and measurements. My Day 9 I had lost a total of 7lbs and 8 and a half inches from my body. It is amazing how quickly people notice too. I had lot’s of comments from friends about how I looked which has spurred me on even more to stay focus and maintain the great work the detox has done!

I am now continuing with my exercise and drinking the gel every morning and ever since drinking it have noticed a massive difference in not only how I feel, but I have less bloating and my hair and skin feels soft and nourished. I would never go back to not drinking it now and can’t wait to explore the rest of the amazing products Forever have to offer! Emily is also offering 10% off the range at the moment too. There are great products which would make fantastic Christmas presents.
Emily has been a great support throughout the detox and has her own site that you can visit and check out all the amazing products. She is also kindly running an offer on the C9 to anyone who mentions coming through me for only £100.00 which is a bargain for the results that you can achieve! Here is also Emily’s Facebook where you can contact her directly. If you want to have your Clean 9 ready to detox in January you will need to order by the 15th December.

If you try any of the products I would love to hear how you get on!

Project Shout – Shouting About Carbon Monoxide Alarms

Project SHOUT is a national campaign to raise awareness of the dangers of carbon monoxide. I have always been aware of how deadly carbon monoxide is and we have a monitor in the kitchen which I test at least once a month. One thing I wasn’t aware of is how carbon monoxide can kill in minutes. It deprives the body of oxygen, resulting in critically low levels. Oxygen starvation initially leaves you with flu like symptoms but can deadly within minutes as well as causing long term organ damage and disease. When I was asked to help spread the word about Project Shout I jumped at the chance and it has also taught me a hell of a lot too.

Carbon Monoxide is a silent killer. It has no colour, taste or smell. Keep your family safe!

Those most at risk are pregnant women, young children and babies, older people and people how suffer with heart or respiratory problems. Some top safety tips to ensure you and your loved ones safety is to have a carbon monoxide audible alarm, it is the only certified way of detecting CO. For the sake of a few minutes set up and a small amount of money having a CO monitor is vital along with a fire alarm you can sleep safely.

If you ever suspect that CO may be affecting you or your family open all windows and doors to ventilate your property, turn off all appliances and evacuate the building and call the national gas emergency service on 0800 111 999.

Common sources of carbon monoxide are boilers, fires and cookers. Carbon monoxide is produced when a fuel is not burnt properly. Interesting through taking part in Project Shout it has taught me that carbon monoxide can seep through walls/bricks so you must always have a good monitor as it could come from a neighbouring property. I cannot stress the importance of having a good audible monitor, with battery warning signs and a digital display. A whopping 4000 people go to A&E with suspected CO poisoning every year! 200 people are hospitalised and there are 50 estimated deaths in England and Wales each year caused by carbon monoxide poisoning.

On the Project SHOUT website you can download informative posters and fact sheets to help SHOUT about the dangers of carbon monoxide. There are also personal stories to watch on their website too. Please share this post and help to spread the word!

We have the FireAngel CO-9D sealed for life carbon monoxide audible monitor. It has an automatic self diagnostic check, 7yr sealed for life Lithium battery, Loud 85dB alarm at 1 metre, a large Test & Silence button, a large multi-function digital screen and room thermometer. I think it is brilliant and know we are safe.

Disclaimer: We were sent the monitor mentioned above in a Project SHOUT goodie box. All opinions are my own.

Energi Trampoline Park, Preston

Logo (1)Greg and I know the people behind the Energi Trampoline Parks who have just announced their first park opening this week, which is very exciting. Their brand new arena will be opening in Preston during October, so you haven’t got long to wait. You may have heard about these amazing trampoline parks as they are certainly the current sporting trend between children and adults. We have been to a few with Oscar here in the UK and when on holiday abroad and we think they are great fun. Oscar absolutely loved it and I loved it more when I found out how many calories I could burn in the one hour we were there 🙂

We had a sneak preview of the building and the full plans today and it looks amazing and I can’t wait for it to be open so we can try it out. It is really nicely designed with loads of exciting activities to suit all ages. We also know that Energi will be opening other venues around the country soon – I am sworn to secrecy at the moment but we are going to be very happy and will be able to go all the time. There is a lot more news to come over the next few weeks before the big opening in Preston in October and their new website launching this week which will be full of exciting information. I will post updates on here too to keep you all in the loop!

When we have been to trampoline parks before we have always had such a great time and it is a brilliantly addictive and great activity for the whole family to do together. A fun activity perfect for any time or day during the week or weekends. It is great fun to do as Mummy Fitness and toddlers love it too. Trampolining is a great and fun way to improve your fitness, it takes me back to my youth and I was surprised how much I could remember. I also secretly like it as I am the best at it in our family 🙂

Check out the Energi Preston Facebook page and if you could be kind enough to give it a like that would be great! www.facebook.com/energipreston which already has hundreds of likes!

Don’t Cry Baby!

When Oscar was a baby he was very placid so when he cried we knew there was normally something wrong. After a few weeks as parents Greg and I were able to differentiate between what was a hungry cry and when Oscar was just being a monkey and wanted a cuddle. We were 100% guilty of immediately picking him up when he cried and after a while he got very used to this and the clever little pickle defiantly used this to his advantage. Over time we defiantly knew what Oscar wanted according to the type of cry he made.  Early on, up until around four months old Oscar suffered from Colic which for any parent can be distressing when you know your baby is crying because they are in discomfort. As a first time Mum I wasn’t sure what to do so took to forums on the internet and ended up using colic drops when Oscar was around four weeks old as this was the recommended guidelines at the time. I wanted something that would help his discomfort but it was also important to me that we used something homeopathic as I didn’t want to give him anything that wasn’t natural at such a young age. Using the drops made life easier for both Oscar and us and worked wonders. Before using them I remember walking around downstairs so Greg could get to sleep as Oscar was crying and I didn’t have a clue what to do. With the sleep deprivation of being a new Mum plus being up often for a couple of hours in the middle of the night to comfort Oscar it was far from ideal! A recent survey by Nelsons® found that 49% of parents think that colic is the most distressing ailment for themColic is a medical term for excessive and frequent crying in a baby who appears to be otherwise healthy and well fed. It usually begins within the first few weeks of life, but often stops by the time the baby is four months old and by six months at the latest. In most cases the intense crying occurs in the late afternoon and the baby may clench their fists and draw their knees up to their tummy or arch their back. It is horrible to watch too and I found that giving Oscar a warm bath always helped or stroking/massaging his tummy and back. This would often help him drift off to the land of nod. Nelsons have now launched their new Nelsons Colica Colic Granules which come in handy sachet’s and in the box comes 24 individual sachet’s which are handy for carrying around with you in your changing bag. The drops were a nightmare to administrate when Oscar was in distress so the granules sound a lot easier to use like Nelson’s teething granules that I use now with Archie.

Baby Oscar

I must admit now we have Archie who is just 8 months old I have done everything very differently when it comes to crying. Luckily he has never had colic and is genuinely the most laid back baby (phew). I think most of this is down to not picking him up immediately if he cried and even when he does cry now it’s hardly ever and more like a little winge. He only cries properly if he was super hungry or has a dirty nappy. I learnt from first time around with Oscar who we used to have to lie in his cot with him until he was 2 as we didn’t want to leave him to cry that that was a bit ridiculous and now I can easily put Archie down and he self settles as we haven’t made that mistake again. You defiantly learn with parenting!

Baby Archie

Here are a few tips to differentiate between your baby’s cries. I know when I first had Oscar I would have found this quite a useful set of tips to read.

Hungry cry: This is usually a short and low-pitched cry, it can also rise and fall.

Angry Cry: This is a more turbulent cry. 🙁

Cry of pain/distress: This generally comes on suddenly and loudly with a long high pitched shriek followed by a pause then a flat wail. It is a horrible cry to hear you will definatly know this one when you hear it!

“Leave me alone” cry: This is similar to a hungry cry.

After a while you learn how to settle your baby and what helps them to feel comfortable and safe. Oscar loved his comforter, which he still has and Archie now has the same one in a different colour. I always found that this settled them as well as a nice cuddle and sometimes I think you baby just wants to feel safe and warm especially if they have discomfort or are feeling a little under the weather.

Colica

So if your baby ever suffers from Colic I would highly recommend using the Nelsons Colica® Colic Granules, like I said before they are a homeopathic medicinal product used within the homeopathic tradition for the symptomatic relief of colic in babies over one month of age. Nelsons Colica Colic Granules costs £5.80 and are available from Boots, Tesco, Asda and Superdrug.

Disclaimer: This post is written in collaboration with Nelsons. We have used Nelson products before and would thoroughly recommend using them if your baby has colic.

Review: Hawaii Collection By OPI From Justmylook.co.uk

Last month I was sent the Hawaii Collection By OPI from justmylook.co.uk which was perfect timing as we were about to go on holiday. The collection comprises of four colours; Suzi Shops & Island hops which is a lovely bright coral colour, That’s Hula-rious! a pastel, shabby chic green, Lost My Bikini In Molokini which is a gorgeous deep purple and Aloha from OPI which is my favourite which is a lovely pastel pink. All the colours are perfect for a holiday manicure or pedicure colour. As they are mini bottles of 3.75ml they were perfect to put in to my make up bag and take with me on holiday so I could top up my polish or change my colour completely. I even did it by the pool.

As I have gel nails on my hands I can paint them as many times as I want and remove the colour and change it without ruining my nails underneath. The colours dry really quickly and I only needed to give my nails two coats to give a lovely solid colour.

The mini collection would make a lovely gift as well as the perfect holiday travel essential. They have an RRP of £14.50 but Just My Look have it for only £9.95 with free delivery too and same day dispatch on orders before 2pm! These minis contain no DBP, toluene, or formaldehyde, and features OPI’s exclusive ProWide™ Brush for the ultimate in application. Additionally, OPI lacquer is formulated in such a way that makes it chip resistant which is perfect when your toes are always out on holiday.

I love this collection and it has come in very handy over the Summer and I love with the minis that you can try out lot’s of different colours for the same price as one big bottle.

Disclaimer: We were sent the Hawaii Collection By OPI for the purpose of this review, however all opinions are completely honest and my own.
