Blogmas Day 6: Deck The Halls

As you will have seen on my Instagram our beautiful Nordmann Fir Christmas Tree arrived last Thursday from Pines and Needles and kicked off Christmas in our house. Traditionally for us the cheeky Elf On a Shelf’s Eddie and Ernie arrive on the 1st of December and bring the boys advent calendars and at the same time the Christmas fairies bring the rest of the decorations for the boys to wake up to.

We always have a artificial tree in the lounge, we’ve had this 7ft one for a few years now and it is so easy and quick to put up. I just need to get a new star as our usual one broke. On this tree as well as normal baubles are the ones the boys have chosen over the years from the Disney store as well as my collection of Harrods Bears. I have every bear from the year Greg and I met in 2006. I also had a decoration made of their joint school photo on Snapfish.

Under the tree we have our new light up presents which we brought a couple of weeks ago at the Ideal Home Show at Christmas. We also brought the light up snowman which is by the fireplace as well.

Our plush Father Christmas we brought in 2007 for our first Christmas at our last house. We got him from Ayletts nursery. They also have a lovely Christmas display each year and we used to visit there when I was a child with my parents and grandparents and always got to choose a new decoration for the tree.

Last Christmas I brought the NOEL nice and the Father Christmas Christmas countdown. The little silver candle holders and the berry candles were from a Christmas market in Prague that Greg brought me a few years ago.

Last Christmas I also brought the garland over the fireplace from John Lewis, four pine cone stocking holders from Amazon and our personalised stockings from Mr Mole Blankets. I absolutely love our fireplace!

In the hallway along with our Pines and Needles tree is my Santa in his rocking chair that I got from Van Hage last year and our giant snowman that lights up and sings from Costco. (Oscar and Archie chose this!!)

I always decorate the boys rooms and they wake up on the 1st with their Christmas sheets on, snow globes on the side and their stockings ready for Christmas Eve. I also have a selection of Christmas books in Archie’s room that we can read at bedtime.

Downstairs in the dining room where we will eat Christmas lunch I have a few decorations on the sideboard from Tilly B Handmade and am having a centrepiece made by Love Flowers like I did last year. At the moment my ball of pine cones is in the middle of the table that I brought last week. The wooden stars I brought back from Canada a few years ago.

I always love looking for new decorations or bits to add to the tree. If you have any websites you use let me know. And last but not least we have the Elves door that stays there until they go home with Father Christmas on Christmas Eve.

Outside the front door I have little light up trees that we brought from Waitrose.

Decorating Our Christmas Tree With Disney Decorations

In our house the fairies bring our Christmas decorations so that when Oscar and Archie wake up on the 1st of December the house has been decorated over night. This year the ‘fairies’ came during the day and when we came back from visiting Father Christmas at the grotto at Harrods all of the decorations were up. Oscar was so excited! When we were at Harrods Oscar chose a new decoration for the tree for himself and one for Archie in the Disney Store which he hung on the tree when we got home.

This year we have a new 7ft Christmas tree and every year we go out and pick a few new decorations to add to the ones we have. Having a new bigger tree meant I needed to buy quite a lot more. Luckily The Disney Store came to my rescue and sent us some lovely Disney tree decorations.

The first set was 6 sweet Tsum Tsum baubles which had Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, Donald Duck, Daisy Duck and Chip and Dale hanging figures in a colourful box. Oscar loves them and we hung them on our tree. The decorations are solid and really well made and adds some real fun to our tree.

The Disney Store also have a fun Tsum Tsum cuddly toys 8 pack for Christmas that I think looks great and you could add them on to your tree too.Mickey Mouse and Friends Tsum Tsum Mini Soft Toys, Set of 8

We were also sent two of the new 2015 edition decorations, Olaf chilling on a beach and a Mickey Mouse hot air balloon with Mickey, Minnie, Donald and Goofy inside. They look great on our tree with a few other decorations I brought from the Disney Store a couple of months ago. Their decorations are always so well made and will last for many Christmas’ to come.

We are so happy with our new decorations and think they look great! Head over to The Disney Store website or go into your nearest store to check out the full collection.

Merry Christmas

Disclaimer: We were sent the above Tsum Tsum decorations, Olaf and the hot air balloon for the purpose of this review. I purchased the rest myself. All opinions are honest and my own.

Ideas To Make Your Baby’s First Christmas Extra Special!

This Christmas will be Archie’s first Christmas and I want to make it as special as possible. I absolutely love Christmas and love to make it as special and magical as possible for the boys. I have started little traditions to keep the magic alive. On the 1st December the fairies bring our Christmas decorations and I decorate Oscar’s room and put out Christmas books for him to read. A elf door also appears downstairs and the elf comes to visit and reports back to Father Christmas about how well Oscar is behaving. Every year we always go to visit Father Christmas at Harrods and I can’t wait to take both the boys this year for their first Christmas photo together.

I have started collecting ‘My First Christmas’ tree decorations ready to put on the tree next month and did the same when it was Oscar’s first Christmas. I have brought two from Harrods, a 2015 first Christmas bauble and the 2015 Harrods bear as I have collected everyone since Oscar was born. I ordered these online.

Christmas My First...I had a look on ebay for cute decoration ideas and came across a seller that made personalised decorations for under £10 each. I chose a blue parcel with a baby popping out of it and personalised for Archie and the year 2015. I think its really sweet and am really pleased with it!

On the John Lewis website I found the Wedgewood 2015 edition of the baby’s first Christmas carousel. I wish I had seen these before and am now on the hunt for a 2010 version on ebay to keep for Oscar too. The carousel decoration comes in a lovely box and is much bigger then I thought it was from the photos on the internet. You can get it in cream, pink or blue and they are only £30. This will be something to cherish for the future as they are a collectors item. It is a beautiful, traditional decoration!

We went to a preview of the beautiful Christmas collection from My1stYears.com who have a lovely range for your baby’s first Christmas. They have everything from personalised stockings and decorations to plush toys and baby gift sets.  I love the My 1st Years website and have actually brought Archie’s special Christmas present from them with personalised ribbon.

Mamas and Papas also have some sweet bits for baby’s first Christmas. Back in 2010 when it was Oscar’s first Christmas I brought a dinner set with a melamine plate, bowl and cup all with ‘My First Christmas written’ on them and still have them in the decorations case in the loft so will use again for Archie’s Christmas dinner. My Mum and Dad brought a 2010 bauble from Mamas and Papas that came in a gift box and have brought the 2015 one for Archie. Mamas and Papas also have bibs, outfits, snow globes and photo albums.

Mothercare have something really different that I haven’t seen before…. A Father Christmas breakfast set which is absolutely gorgeous! It stacks up to make Santa and comes with a plate, bowl, mug and egg cup and is topped with a felt santa hat for your boiled egg. I have ordered a set each for Oscar and Archie.

Through Facebook I found a page where you can get different gifts that can be personalised. I saw a wooden personalised nativity set and loved it. I ordered one for the boys and as well as being a nice decoration as it is wooden they can play with it together too.

I hope you find some of these ideas useful!

Merry Christmas
