The Bebylux Alexa Group 123 Car Seat Review

A few months ago an email landed in my inbox that really excited me. It was a husband and wife team that had designed a new brand of car seat that is the first official luxury designer car seat on the market. When I went on to their website to take a look for myself I instantly loved the The Bebylux Alexa Group 123 Car Seat. Finally there was a car seat that not only was super safe and met every safety point possible but it is super stylish and fashionable too.

The Bebylux Alexa is a group 1, 2 and 3 car seat for infants from 9 to 36kgs approximately 1.5 to 12 years old. It literally grows with your child and will last for years!

When you have a baby, if your anything like me you look for a stylish changing bag, dress your baby in gorgeous clothes and spend ages finding the perfect pushchair but then car seats pretty much look the same, feel the same and other than different colours and patterns the variety is pretty boring. With the Bebylux it comes in a gorgeous quilted handcrafted deep padded black bicast leather (very Chanel inspired) with your choice of black, white or red stitching to suit your car’s interior. It is the best looking car seat in years and everyone who has seen it in my car has commented on how nice it is.

The Alexa seat comes in four different designs all with the classic quilted bicast leather. There is the Lusso Bianca which has the white stitching and the Lusso Nero which is the one we have with the black stitching which are £349. There is then the Classico Bianca which is just the plain non quilted leather at £295. The Sportivo collection is race car inspired with the Spotivo Rosso having red leather panels and red stitching and the Spotivo Grigio which has grey panels and are £295. Finally there is the Limited Edition Monza which is £449. If you want to go all out you can have a bespoke Bebylux Alexa made for you which can be encrusted in Swarovski Crystals and you can have you child’s name embossed into the headrest, it is very glam!

One of the best features I have found is that the bicast leather doesn’t feel cold in Winter or get hot in Summer making it a comfortable ride for Archie in all temperatures. The bicast leather is also fantastic and easy to keep clean as it can be wiped over leaving it looking as good as new. The bicast leather is also non flammable.

When I got our Bebylux Alexa out of the box it was inside a gorgeous suede dust bag which also doubles up as a tough travel bag if you needed to take the car seat on holiday with you and didn’t want the leather to get scratched or damaged. Anything with a dust bag is normally expensive and luxurious so it is a really nice added touch.

The Alexa was easy to fit using the Isofix points and the top tether which hooks over the seat into the boot which reduces head excursion in an accident. The seat itself is really comfortable and has impact absorbing foam and memory foam base. The seat/frame is absolutely solid and as soon as you pick the seat up you can feel the sturdiness of it and the quality throughout. The frame has an impact stabilising steel frame throughout the spine of the car seat which as a result reduces the forward flex in an incident.

The car seat has four reclining positions and the head rest has five adjustment levels so as you child grows they can still travel in maximum comfort.

I absolutely love everything about the Bebylux Alexa especially how it is one of the safest car seats on the market and by far the most stylish! The car seats are available now online or are stocked in Harrods.

The Alexa special features are:

  • ECE R44-04 approved

  • ISOFIX and NON-ISOFIX compatible

  • GROUP 123 ( 9 – 36 KG / 9 Months upto 12 Years)

  • Impact absorbing top tether belt tensioning system

Putting A Shopping List Of Baby Bits Together!

Since I was pregnant with Oscar five years ago the world of baby and nursery products has changed dramatically! When I had Oscar I brought so many bits and pieces (most you don’t really need) and as we have now passed the twenty weeks stage I have been putting a list together of things we need to get as I am trying to be really organised especially being due around Christmas.

We have our nursery furniture that was from Mama’s and Papa’s and has lasted really well and Oscar is now in a cabin bed so I only need to get him a chest of draws then I can use the changing unit/draws for the baby. Some of the things I have come across have shocked me, like the Fisher Price bouncer with Ipad holder. I was pleased to read this had been discontinued! There are some products available that I really love the look of and can make life a little easier for you. The Tommee Tippee perfect prep machine looks fab and I have had friends that have used it and they absolutely rave about it. Also I will defiantly be getting a video baby monitor this time as these weren’t around five years ago and look really great.

Another major difference when browsing the baby clothes is there are so many cuter boys clothes available now. As we don’t know what we are having I have brought a few neutral bits. I am loving star patterns and also brought some adorable giraffe printed baby grows from Mothercare plus I like the idea of rainbow prints for our little rainbow baby. I won’t be buying to much as I did this last time then when Oscar was born had loads of neutral clothes still on hangers as family and friends brought him so many lovely boy outfits. I was surprised in Next they have a tiny range of unisex new baby clothes which made me think maybe lots of people find out the sex of their baby now? To be honest I would love to find out but Greg doesn’t want to so I will just have to wait for the surprise!

There are also so many great looking pushchair/travel systems available now from fun and quirky designs from Cosatto, really modern designs from Quinny and I am still drawn back to Bugaboo has I had one with Oscar and it was great. To many to choose from makes the decision even harder. I am going to wait until the Baby Show in October to have a thorough look at them all. We have a Stokke mini sleepi cot from before too which I found making going from a moses basket to a big cot much easier. I have brought new white bedding and bumpers already, let’s see how long I can keep them clean this time.

I had a Silver Cross car seat with Oscar but don’t have it any more so have been looking at the Maxi-Cosi pebble and with my car now I can have an isofix base which makes getting the car seat in and out of the car so much easier, especially after a C-section.

Decisions, decisions all very exciting though!
