Our Christmas Decorations Are Up

Usually Oscar wakes up to the whole house decorated for Christmas on the 1st of December. This year as I’m 36 weeks pregnant I only did his room for him to wake up to on the 1st and then told him the Fairies would do the rest of the house whilst he was at school. In Oscar’s room he has a little tree, a snow globe from John Lewis, Christmas bunting, cushion and bedding from Next, Christmas books, a nativity set and a Happyland Father Christmas toy set.

He woke up at 4.30am and saw his room had been decorated and was so excited he couldn’t go back to sleep. He couldn’t believe that the fairies had changed his bed sheets without him knowing! He ran downstairs and found his elf sitting by his elf door and was so excited. I move the elf around the house and call him the cheeky elf and Oscar has to find him. When I picked Oscar up from school he was so excited as he had done his school play to the other children at school and couldn’t wait to get home to see the Christmas Tree. Greg had come home from work early to see his reaction!

Decorating the house took me all day, lugging boxes about and then putting them back in the loft. I am shattered! The only bits I haven’t got out yet is everything to dress my table for Christmas lunch. I always do it in gold with a table cloth, chargers and table runner all from Next.

We have a few new decorations this year as we add to what we have each year. Greg brought a lovely battery lit rattan tree from Rickmansworth’s Victorian Christmas Fair. I also brought a solid paper mâché snowman from John Lewis for £20, I saw him and had to have him! I also have a new box of decorations from The Christmas Boutique that we were sent to review. Within the decorations we were sent to review was a wax pine come wreath which I put a battery candle inside and I think it looks lovely, especially on our mirrored coffee table.

We then had great fun playing the Christmas Surprise game that Orchard Toys kindly sent us as a Christmas Gift that I had left under the tree for Oscar along with his Christmas pyjamas that I brought from Mothercare.

So with 22 sleeps to go and maybe a new baby for us between now and then our house is ready for Christmas!
