Willow’s Activity Farm Santa Spectacular 2017 Competition

Image result for willows activity farm

I can’t believe were nearly in November. Anyone that knows me knows that I LOVE Christmas. After all it is the most magical time of year and I do my best to make it as magical as possible for Oscar and Archie.

Last Christmas we visited Willow’s Activity Farm and met Father Christmas during their Santa Spectacular event. The boys had an amazing day and their were so many activities to do as well as meeting the big man himself! Every child will have a chance to meet Santa in his spectacular grotto and receive a golden key to Santa’s Toy Shop, they can then choose from hundreds of toys. The excitement on the kids faces when you go into Santa’s toy shop is amazing.

Willow’s is somewhere we visit a lot as its only 10 miles from where we live. In fact we went last week with our toddler group.

This festive season, Santa Spectacular at Willows Activity Farm is the only event for families looking for a truly magical day out. Starting from 22 November – 24 December, you can enjoy the ultimate festive experience in St. Albans, Hertfordshire.

You can join in at the Elf Academy, learning the basics of how to be an elf from Santa’s elves all the way from the North Pole – including the Elf-a-bet! The Create-a-Cuddle workshop will also be open daily, allowing little ones to make their very own reindeer cuddly toy to take home, all included in the entrance price.

The popular 3D film is back, with children able to take off into the skies on an adventure with Santa, this was super impressive last year! Then try a real life magical ride in the Willows festive wood on Tristan the Runaway Tractor. Tristan the tractor is Archie’s favourite! Indoors there is the synthetic ice rink, Christmas shows including an Elf Sing-a-Long and Nativity performances featuring farm animals. Plus, meet Mischka, the Alaskan Malamute and Santa’s reindeer. It is a seriously jam packed fun filled day out for the whole family to enjoy!

As well as all of the above the usual activities are open as well; The Farmyard, Peter Rabbit Adventure Playground™,  the indoor soft play areas, the funfair rides, bouncing haystacks, Peter Rabbit woodland play trail, the big dig, trampolines, cotton-tail village and so much more! As well as plenty of places to grab something to eat or drink.

The lovely team at Willow’s Activity Farm have kindly given me a family ticket to be used during their Santa Spectacular (22 November – 24 December) and have a magical day out! So enter below and good luck!

Enjoy A Splendifirous Summer With Mr Kipling & Roald Dahl

Last week we were invited to the Roald Dahl Museum in Great Missenden, Aylesbury to celebrate the collaboration between Roald Dahl and the delicious Mr Kipling cakes who want you to Enjoy A Splendifirous Summer With Mr Kipling & Roald Dahl. Mr Kipling has added a touch of magic to their range of cakes with new limited edition Roald Dahl packaging that is exclusive to Tesco until September. With every pack you purchase there is a unique code inside that you enter onto the Mr Kipling website and see if you have one of many amazing prizes.

Mr Kipling and Roald Dahl know the importance of spending quality time together, especially over the Summer with the children on their holidays, which is why they are trying to make your Summer more splendifirous by winning amazing prices and sharing a packet of their delicious cakes. The wonderful prizes include tickets to see the wonderful West End stage show, Matilda the musical, a trip to Buckingham palace, a selection of Roald Dahl books, family tickets to the Roald Dahl Museum, a BFG jump squiffling giant jigsaw and lots lots more. Even a family trip to New York for two adults and two children! You can see the full list of prizes here.

The limited edition packaging can’t be missed as all the Mr Kipling cakes now have a Roald Dahl twist. There are fantastic french fancies, enormous crocodile croc-olate slices, gloriumptious cherry bakewells, delightful Viennese swirls, scrumptious mini battenbergs and Dory-Hunky angel slices. Also on the website is an ‘inspire’ page full of things to do for families over the Summer.

When we arrived at the Roald Dahl museum we went up to the Mr Kipling room for a cup of tea and some cake and was given a talk on the exciting new collaboration. We then went around the museum, I had never been before but Oscar visited with his school earlier on in the year when they were learning about chocolate. The museum is fantastic and as a fan of Roald Dahl as a child it was nice to share something I loved as a child with Oscar as he is now reading the books too. He is currently reading the Giraffe, the Pelly and me. We learnt lots of fascinating facts about Roald Dahl.

We then went on the village tour and I was fascinated at how many of Roald Dahl’s books are based around the small village of Great Missenden. From the library in Matilda, to the Tudor looking building he then envisaged as the orphanage in the BFG, the supermarket in Fantastic Mr Fox and the petrol pump station in Danny The Champion of the World. We also then walked up the hill to the village church where Roald Dahl’s grave is. It has the BFG’s giant footprints leading up to it and is set under a beautiful tree with a bench with his grandchildren’s name on it.

We then walked back to the museum for story time and then went and had a lovely afternoon tea with Mr Kipling. I hadn’t had a battenberg in ages and now I am totally addicted, I have had a fair few packets since last week.

We had a lovely time at the Roald Dahl Musuem thanks to Mr Kipling and will be going back very soon as it is so local to us.

The New Summer Piccolo Menu At Pizza Express

Yesterday we went to the Pizza Express in Watford for lunch. We had been to this particular Pizza Express countless times and have always had a great experience. We had been asked to see what we thought of the New Summer Piccolo Menu At Pizza Express, we knew it would be lovely as the boys love it there! When we arrived we were given a spacious table and the menus to browse through. They have a new Summer Piccolo Children’s menu and activity packs. Oscar is seven and always likes an activity pack in a restaurant with different puzzles, word searches and colouring on them and Archie being two loves drawing all over it and the activity packs keeps them both entertained until their lunch arrives.

The new Piccolo menu has lots of choice and you get three courses, a drink and a bambinoccino with the dessert for only £6.95. The starter is baked dough balls with cucumber and fresh, red baby plum tomatoes. For mains there are three different pasta dishes to choose from,  four different types of pizza and new on the Summer menu is a Pollo salad. For dessert as I mentioned a bambinoccino is included and there is four yummy desserts to choose from.

Oscar always has the same he loves the penne Bolognese and Archie had the Margherita pizza. The portions are perfectly sized, obviously Archie always leaves a bit as he is only two but Oscar as a growing seven year old finishes the bowl of Bolognese completely. I had my all time favourite a salad nicoise. I love the Pizza Express salad dressing, thankfully you can buy it at the supermarket and I use it all the time at home. They finished their lunch off with vanilla ice-cream with a cone and chocolate sauce which also comes with a Bambinoccino.

As well as the fun-filled activity packs, with each child getting their very own chef’s hat and stickers too, Pizza Express are encouraging children aged 6-12 to unleash their creativity and be as imaginative as possible in their Dough Ball Adventure writing competition. All they have to do is submit an exciting Dough Ball adventure story (up to 200 words) via the Pizza Express website for the chance to have their stories being made into animations, as well as win weekly adventure prize. Plus one lucky winner will win an adventure holiday. Such a fantastic competition and educational too! Oscar has already started writing his dough ball story about them going on holiday to visit their family in Italy.

The staff in the Watford branch were really lovely as always and even though they were super busy we didn’t have to wait for a table and our food came nice and quickly. We will be back many times over the Summer holidays! For a great priced, relaxing lunch head to Pizza Express with the kids this Summer! And don’t forget to enter the competition!

Personalised Photo Gifts From Snapfish & £50 Competition

I have used Snapfish for years now and always use their app on my phone to upload my photos into albums ready to use on any of my projects. I have made everything from huge acrylics to photo books. I just love making personalised photo gifts from Snapfish! Every Christmas I make Oscar & Archie calendars for the grandparents so the app is a great way of storing my favourite photos ready to use in the December.

When I was asked to review some of the photo gifts for Greg for Father’s Day I knew straight away what I wanted to order for him. The Snapfish team have also kindly given me a £50 gift card for one of my lucky readers too.

The website is easy to use and I designed Greg a personalised photo mousemat which is new to the Snapfish range, for the office with one of my favourite pictures of the boys on it that was professionally taken a few months ago. Greg loved it and it now has pride of place on his desk. You can choose all sorts of designs, photo configurations and add text to make it as personal as you like. At only £7.99 they are a bargain!

I also made Greg a personalised Father’s Day Card to go with his presents and as always you can pick from tons of different designs, colours, themes, sizes and pick your photo configuration. He loved receiving a card that was personal to him instead of the normal generic cards your can pick up in the shops. It is a card he will keep forever!

Oscar also wanted to pick a couple of pictures to make into acrylic blocks. I love the acrylic blocks as I prefer these to having photos in frames. You can pick between A5 and A6 acrylic blocks. Last Father’s Day I made three of these blocks that Greg has on his desk at work so we knew he would like them. The A6 size is £29.99 and the A5 size is £34.99.

You can also make huge acrylic panels which I ordered a couple of months ago and absolutely love it!

Head over to the Snapfish website and see for yourself how fantastic their  range of personalised photo gifts are and all at amazing prices. Don’t forget to enter below to be in with a chance of winning a £50 Snapfish voucher to use too! Good Luck!

Archie is 2 & Little Tikes Birthday Giveaway 🎂

Today Archie is 2! I can’t actually believe it, it only seems like a few months ago that he was born. Time flies!

Archie is a real character as so different to how Oscar was at his age. He is a little rascal. If you say ‘no’ to Archie if he does something naughty he laughs at you, takes absolutely no notice and then says “happy, happy, happy.”

He’s a climber and finds it hilarious to empty the entire contents of my kitchen cupboards and as soon as I put everything back, empty them all over again. He is non stop!

He calls Daddy “Nanny” even though he can say Daddy but thinks it’s funny!

He loves playing with Oscar and it’s nice to watch them sit and play properly together.

It is also nice to see that he is starting to make his own friends now at his toddler groups and recognises them straight away and plays with them as soon as he sees them.

Today we are going to my Nanny’s for a little birthday party with family and a few close friends. As Archie loves Teletubbies I have got a teletubbie cake, balloons and decorations.

To celebrate Archie’s 2nd Birthday Little Tikes have kindly given us a Lil Ocean Explorers 3in1 Adventure Course to give away to one of my readers! It is a great toy and can be used from 6 months until 3 years. So enter below and good luck!

Our Super Yummies Adventure & Competition

Last week Archie was sent some fabulous adventure goodies from The Super Yummies so we could go on an adventure of our own over the weekend. We had the ultimate discovery pack when keeping both Oscar and Archie entertained when out and about.

As well as The Super Yummies snacks we had a LittleLife rabbit rucksack and reins, a Hello Nature art book and a nature art activity book. Both the boys were thrilled, Archie loves his LittleLife rucksack and Oscar loves art and craft and thought the books were fantastic. His exact phrase was “epic”.

So on Saturday we went to the farm and had a fantastic day exploring and having fun. We stopped mid-morning for a snack and the Pear and Berries rice cakes went down a treat and are great for a quick and easy refuel snack and on when we went. The rice cakes are suitable for 12 months plus. They are the perfect size for little hands and taste really fruity and without sounding cliché are super yummy! Oscar pinched a few too and loved them. It is great when you find a snack that both boys will love and comes in convenient sized packs to always carry around with you!

Archie loves being out of the pushchair now and free to run around when we are out, although sometimes I lose count of how many times he runs around at a hundred miles an hour and falls over. Today he wore his adorable little rabbit LittleLife backpack and reins that carried his snacks and water beaker inside and then as we walked around I held onto the reins and he managed to stay on his feet. The backpacks are a fantastic idea, in fact years ago we had a shark one with Oscar. We took it everywhere with us as it easily fits under the pushchair or I used to attach it to my changing bag. It is really one of those ‘wow’ products that makes your life so much easier and you can’t live without. No more panicking that Archie is getting too close to the water when feeding the ducks and him refusing to hold my hand (he is Mr Independent). A lot of people also commented on how cute his backpack was with the little rabbit ears.

At lunch Archie had some of the tomato and herb breadsticks. I love that they are flat which is easier for him to hold and actually he manages to eat all of it rather than crumbling everywhere like breadsticks usually do. They also come in a resealable packet which is great, rather than having to put them in a bulky container in my bag to keep them fresh. Once again they are full of flavour and taste lovely, even Daddy liked them!

The fruit pouches are perfect for an after lunch treat/pudding and have rescrewable lids so can be eaten on the go. Archie loves to feed himself with these and sucks all the yumminess out. Archie loves yoghurts and often gets in a right mess when trying to use a spoon, although this is great fun at home it’s not ideal if you are out and about and the pouches just save the day!

The apple and orange rice cakes were definitely Archie’s favourite and by the time we left Willows Farm the packet was empty. He literally walked around with them eating one after the other. I managed to prise one off him so I could try it too but nobody else got a look in. They do taste really good, I can see myself eating them as a snack, just don’t tell Archie.

Here is the full Super Yummies range:

Breadsticks: spinach breadsticks, tomato & herb breadsticks which are 12 months +

Rice cakes: pear & berries rice cakes, apple & orange rice cakes which are 12 months +

Pouches:  apple & forest fruits yoghurt, strawberry, kiwi & banana squeeze, mixed berries & coconut squeeze which are 12 months +

Slices and pieces: beetroot & parsnip slices, strawberry & yoghurt pieces, banana & yoghurt pieces which Archie hasn’t tried yet as they are 36 months +

Both flavours of rice cakes, the two flavours of breadsticks, the fruit pouches and the slices and pieces follow The Super Yummies promise:

With our little discovery pack we also have a sheet full of fun mini adventure ideas. Check out my Instagram to see lots of The Super Yummies mini adventures over the Winter! I would love to see your photos too, so don’t forget to tag me in them.

The Super Yummies and LittleLife have kindly given me one discovery pack to give away to one lucky reader. So enter below and good luck!

#ClangersForKindness Competition

A few weeks ago the boys received a lovely bundle of Clangers goodies as part of their new Clangers For Kindness campaign. Both the boys love watching Clangers on CBeebies and it was last Christmas that Oscar’s Auntie brought him the play set and all the figures.

The Clangers For Kindness campaign will be encouraging kids, parents – in fact everyone – to spread kindness every day, just like the Clangers do on the little blue planet. From giving a hug, to helping a friend in need, there are many ways to spread kindness. Spreading kindness is something we have installed in Oscar. Spreading kindness at Christmas time is especially lovely and one example of Oscar spreading some kindness happened last week in London. Each year we go to Harrods to see Father Christmas and last Tuesday after school we drove into London for our annual visit. After we went into the grotto we walked around the corner to Pizza Express and on our way Oscar noticed a man in a sleeping bag sitting in a shop doorway. He asked us why he was there and we explained to him that not everybody is as lucky as him. He kept asking questions throughout dinner. We then had to walk back past the man to get to the car and Oscar had put a £1 out of his money box in his pocket in case he wanted to buy something. When we walked past the man Oscar let go of my hand and walked over to him and gave him his pound and said Merry Christmas! I was so proud of him and as we walked back to the car he had a huge smile on his face. I asked him if it made him feel good, his reply was “yes very good, hopefully the man will buy a new house with my pound and be safe and warm.” It made me want to cry, I was so proud of him.

In the Clangers bundle we were sent an activity book, a DVD, a model your own clangers modelling kit, magazine and a Clanger whistle. The boys loved watching the DVD over and over, especially Archie who normally I have to download episodes on my Sky box. The model your own Clangers kit is great and we had great fun making our very own Clanger, the tin has everything you need inside and would make a great stocking filler. Oscar took ownership of the activity book as he didn’t trust Archie with his stickers! 🙂 And the Clanger whistle is great fun, I couldn’t believe how spot on the noise it makes is to the Clanger sounds.

The Clangers For Kindness website is full of fun activities and also a free downloadable reward chart.

Take a look below at the lovely #ClangersForKindness video. Warning: You may shed a tear or two…..

The lovely people at Clangers have kindly given me a matching bundle to give away to one of my lovely readers! I would love to hear any stories you might have of your little ones and their acts of kindness! Then enter the competition below to win your very own Clangers bundle.

Don’t forget Clangers are also on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and Pinterest.

Dreaming Of Dubai………….

Dubai is somewhere that I have always wanted to go to. A few of my friends live there and I always see their amazing photos on my Facebook and Instagram feed and as I sit here writing this post and its pouring with rain outside in May I am extremely jealous! Blazing hot, super glamorous and loads to explore and do, what more could you want?

The internet is full of amazing things to do when holidaying in Dubai and when I saw on Twitter that Tots 100 had an amazing competition for bloggers to win a holiday to Dubai with Dubai Tourism I had to enter! Dubai is the perfect location for a family holiday with amazing hotels and beaches and loads to see and do. I have looked at lots of the fantastic things you can do in Dubai for here are my top 5 if we were lucky enough to ever go!

  1. I would soak up some rays on the gorgeous beaches and swim in the crystal clear sea. Oscar loves playing on the beach and building sand castles and I have always preferred swimming in the sea to a swimming pool. Photos on Instagram of the beaches in Dubai look amazing and hot hot hot!

2. Something I have always wanted to do is swim with Dolphins, wherever we have been on holiday in Europe before we have been to watch Dolphin shows but have never been able to swim with them. Oscar always asks to see if he can swim with them so I know it would be an amazing surprise for him if he could swim with them.  Dolphin Bay In-Water Experiences & Aquaventure Waterpark is based at the back of the Atlantis on the Palm which is a hotel I would love to visit in itself. For £159 each you can visit the waterpark and then have a  personal and truly unforgettable shallow-water dolphin interaction. You get your own little show as the Dolphin’s swim and show off some of their favourite skills, then come truly close to them and touch, hug, kiss or even play ball with your new dolphin friend. You get to have an up-close experience which is appropriate for all ages which is great as Archie is only 17 months old but can still join in too instead of either Greg or myself missing out we get to do it as a family. This would be an unforgettable experience and would tick swimming with Dolphin’s off my bucket list.

four people in large pool with dolphin in Dubai

3. Obviously outside the hustle and bustle of the city you are in the middle of the desert. You can go on a excursion and one that really caught my eye is where you go for the day and not only get to ride a camel but also get to drive a quad bike and try sandboarding which all sound great fun! For around £75 each I think that’s a bargain for the amount of activities you get to try out. It sounds like a great day out, having tons of fun and we would get to try lots of new things and after all that’s what holidays are all about, making memories and trying something new!

two camels on sand dune in Dubai

4. So the Dubai Mall is the World’s largest shopping mall and is probably somewhere Greg will try and keep me away from with its array of gorgeous shops and boutiques! Obviously I would love to have a day of shopping here as I have been told that most things are quite a bit cheaper in the shops in Dubai. I will most probably need an extra suitcase to bring my new purchases home! 🙂 The Mall even has its own aquarium which is just mind blowing!

Dubai Mall (6)Dubai Mall (2)

5. Last but no means least, I would love to take Greg and the boys to Ferrari World. It is £ 49 per adult to get in and £40 for a child. Greg loves cars and Oscar has his own electric ferrari at home that Archie now uses. We recently went to something similar for Mercedes in the UK which is much smaller and we had a great time. It is the World’s largest indoor park (and only Ferrari-branded theme park) offering more than 20 Ferrari-inspired rides and attractions for visitors of all ages. Being indoors is good and in the midday sun would be a cool break for a few hours inside. For kids they can play in the waterless car wash, pilot remote-control cars, peddle their own Ferraris, and play with a Formula 1 car made entirely from kid-friendly foam and for adults you can go behind the scenes at the Grand Prix. Get up close and personal with the ultimate display of Ferrari cars, take a tour the historic Ferrari factory as you experience what was previously a privilege for only Ferrari owners plus so much more! This would be an amazing day out and one my boys would really enjoy!

So there you have it, my top 5 things I would love to do in Dubai. Obviously there are a few more I could add as there is so much to do there! If you are taking a trip to Dubai check out the Dubai Tourism website for more great ideas on how to make your holiday extra special!

This post is an entry in to the Tots100/Dubai Dreams blogger challenge, and be sure to share your own Dubai Dreams for a chance to win a holiday to Dubai yourself!

Share Your Ghastro Ghoul or Noro Story To Win A Break To Legoland

Norovirus causes diarrhoea and vomiting and is one of the most common stomach bugs in the UK. As a Mummy to two boys Norovirus is a nightmare! Archie is only 15 months and touch wood we have swerved it so far but Oscar has had it a few times over the last few years. One particular that time that I will always remember was when Oscar was 4 and I had just been for my 20 week scan as I was pregnant with Archie. Oscar had had a fun afternoon playing in the playground as we had met his Nanny for lunch afterwards for lunch. On the way home Oscar said he didn’t feel very well and that he had a tummy ache. I just thought he needed the toilet and told him we would be home in 5 minutes and not to worry. We were literally a couple of minutes from home and Oscar was sick, he was so upset that he had been sick and also worried that he had ruined his car seat. Seeing your little one so upset when they are ill is awful, you just want to switch places with them. Luckily when we arrived home Daddy was there and as it was a warm Summer’s day I took off Oscar’s shorts and tshirt and Daddy lifted him upstairs to give him a shower and get him cleaned up and in fresh clothes. After taking the car seat out of the car and putting the covers in the wash Oscar was in fresh clothes and still feeling really unwell. We gave him plenty of fluid and snuggled on the sofa to watch a DVD.

Dioralyte Family

Within a couple of hours the diarrhoea set in and I Googled what the best remedies were to treat it and rehydrate Oscar as I knew this was really important and Dioralyte came up as the number 1 selling rehydration therapy. I sent Greg out to get some Dioralyte from the chemist.  Dioralyte provides the right balance of mineral salts and water to combat dehydration and rehydrates better than plain water, fruit juice or fizzy drinks and contains essential electrolytes (mineral salts) and works by replacing fluids and body salts lost as a result of acute diarrhoea. By the next morning Oscar was feeling much better and it is amazing how quickly children bounce back after an illness and he very much enjoyed having 48 hours off of school to recover and play! Annoyingly after a day I came down with it as well, which was awful as being pregnant I couldn’t take a thing, only drink loads of water and pray that Oscar didn’t get it back again from me as obviously he was off of school at home with me. Luckily we both recovered after a few days.

You can have a look on the Dioralyte website and if anyone in your family is suffering from sickness or diarrhoea you can find the right product for you to get rid of it as quick as possible. In the range are:

DioraleZe

DioraleZe is a product which can stop the symptoms of diarrhoea in just one dose, it contains Loperamide Hydrochloride, which has an exceptionally rapid onset of action compared with other anti-diarrhoeal drugs. DioraleZe works by slowing down muscle movements in the gut which leads to more water being absorbed from stools. The stools then become firmer and are passed less frequently. NHS guidance recommends taking oral rehydration sachets and anti-diarrhoeal medication as one of the ways in which you can help to treat diarrhoea – taking DioralyteTM and DioraleZe together can help aid a faster recovery time. DioraleZe 2mg capsules RRP £3.49 for 6 capsules and are available from Boots, Asda, Superdrug and independent pharmacies.

Dioralyte

Dioralyte is the number one selling rehydration therapy. It is clinically proven to treat dehydration faster and more effectively than plain water, fruit juice or fizzy drinks, it works by replacing fluids and body salts lost as a result of acute diarrhoea.

Dioralyte comes in three different flavours:

• Blackcurrant

• Citrus

• Natural Dioralyte is suitable from 2 years.

Dioralyte Relief

Dioralyte Relief has a unique formula which reduces the duration of diarrhoea and the time taken to return to normal drinking and eating, thanks to the rice powder. It also treats dehydration faster and more effectively than plain water, fruit juice or fizzy drinks by replacing essential electrolytes (mineral salts) and water – just what your body needs to help you rehydrate and start feeling better. Dioralyte Relief is available in blackcurrant and raspberry flavours. Dioralyte Relief is suitable from 2 years.

I would love for you to share your Ghastro Goul or Noro Story of when somebody in your family was struck by either the Norovirus or Rotavirus. By sharing your story you will be entered in my competition to win an amazing family mini break (2 adults and 2 children) to Legoland Windsor, including centrally located hotel accommodation for one night and tickets to Legoland worth over £560! We went to Legoland ourselves last week and it is amazing! Competition closes Monday 16th May 2016 at 11am.
