Dr Russo Sun Protective Skincare

For the last month I have been using the moisturiser and the face wash from the new Dr Russo Sun Protective Skincare range. The full range consists of a 30 SPF 100ml sun protective day cleanser, a 30ml night repair serum and a 100ml night repair exfoliating cleanser and a 30ml protective day moisturiser.

Dr Russo is renowned internationally for his revolutionary work in reversing sun damage and premature skin ageing. He has pioneered the combined use of Thermage, Fraxel, Zeltiq, PRP and Stem-Cells in Europe and for over 20 years, has been the secret weapon behind some of the world’s most famous faces, having built a reputation as the doctor who makes people look and feel younger.

When I get up in the morning I have been washing my face with the Dr Russo SPF30 sun protective day cleanser. You simply wash your face leave then massage the face wash in for a couple of minutes and then rinse off. It doesn’t leave your skin feeling like you have an SPF on and leaves you feeling clean and refreshed, yet protected at the same time.

This then gives you SPF30 protection which is so important to keep your skin healthy, protected and looking young. Up to 80% of premature ageing is due to sun damage and even in the UK where you might not think the sun is damaging you, it still can even on a cloudy day. This really is a game changer in the World of skincare using utilising proprietary, patent-pending technology, this moisturising day cleanser has been specifically formulated to gently cleanse the skin of impurities while providing SPF 30 protection from UVA/UVB exposure.

I then use the SPF30 sun protective moisturiser before applying my make-up which is great and really light too so you can use it and then continue with your usual skincare routine. The protective day cleanser is £52 for a 100ml tube and the day moisturiser is £95 for a 50ml tube. Over the last few years I have upped my anti-ageing skin care routine and knowing I now have a moisturiser that is great for anti-ageing and protects my skin from the sun too is great and I wouldn’t use anything else!

The Dr Russo Sun Protective Skincare range is now available to buy online at FeelUnique.com

The Weeride Safefront Deluxe Bike Seat

Last month we were sent the number 1 selling bike seat in the UK and the US, the Weeride Safefront Deluxe Bike Seat. I had recently got a new bike myself as now Oscar has learnt to ride I thought it would be nice to go on family bike rides over the Summer as we have lovely cycling paths by the canal near us.

I got the Weeride Safefront Deluxe Bike Seat out of its box and it is simple and easy to fit on to your bike. It is centre mounted on the bike frame and is seriously sturdy once fitted!  The cushions are really padded within the seat to keep your little one nice and comfortable and supported and there is also a padded head rest on the front of the seat too so if you little one nods off on the bike ride they can sleep in comfort, which is a great idea!

The Weeride seat is recommended for children aged from 1-4 years. Once the seat is fitted in seconds you can take it off leaving the main support bar on so you can ride without your child too. You can also slide the seat into several positions on the support bar to make riding as comfortable and as safe for you as possible.

I love that with the Weeride Archie gets a great view of what is going on around us rather than some seats that just show them your back. Also I can easily chat to Archie the whole time and this was especially great on our first bike ride as he kept looking at me for reassurance.

On the seat there is a 5 point safety strap and movable footrests for extra child safety and also stops their legs dangling which could get in the way of you riding.

Overall the Weeride is easy to fit and really easy to use. Cycling is great fun and now we can go out whenever we want as Archie loves being in the seat. I will also be using it during the week as it gets warmer to get fit and I can take Archie with me rather than going to the gym in the evenings.

The Weeride Safefront Deluxe Bike Seat has an RRP of £119.99 but is reduced at the moment to £99.99 with free shipping. So grab your discounted seat now.

My C9 Forever Living 9 Day Cleanse

A friend of mine, Sophie is a Forever Living distributor and we were chatting and as I had made a new years resolution to myself to get fit and eat healthier I thought it would be a great idea to start off the year by completing My C9 Forever Living 9 Day Cleanse. I have done one before and loved the results. The aloe vera left me feeling amazing and I lost 8lbs in the nine days. This time around weight loss wasn’t a priority it was more giving my body a cleanse and starting the year as I mean to go on.

Image result for c9 forever living

The Clean 9 Pak contains everything you need for the Clean 9 program for the full 9 days. The instructions of what to do on each day is so easy to follow and before you start you record your weight in the booklet and using the tape measure provided and your body measurements too.

Day 1 and 2 are generally the hardest as you are starting off the cleanse and they are called the reset days and you don’t eat a meal on those days but to be honest I found these days really easy and the shakes, fibre drinks and the tablets and softgels contained more than enough calories to keep me going. I only found it a bit difficult when making the boys and Greg’s dinner, I had to contain myself from picking. There are a few free foods that you are allowed to eat if you need to have a little snack on the list in your booklet. You also need to drink lots of water, which I do anyway so that was easy to continue.

Day 3-9 as well as drinking the shakes, fibre drinks and tablets and soft gels I had a 500-600 calorie evening meal. In your C9 instruction booklet there are recipe ideas for healthy low calorie meals Most of my meals contained chicken as I upped my protein intake to help build muscle.

I chose the Vanilla flavour shake and it tastes really good. Since finishing the C9 I have brought extra bags of the forever lite ultra vanilla shake and have one for breakfast each morning and one after I exercise. I have also continued drinking one shot of 60ml aloe vera gel every morning too. Since drinking the gel I have noticed a difference in my skin and also I feel less tired in the morning after a broken nights sleep as always with Archie waking during the night.

“Summer bodies are made in Winter!”

Exercise

I exercised on Day 2 with a Metafit class and on Day 3 I did a Zumba class followed by a Pound Class. Day 4 I did a 28 minute Kayla Itsine’s Sweat workout from my app. Day 5 I went for a run and started doing a plank challenge of two one minute sessions a day and also started a squat challenge app. Day 6 and 7 I just did my planks and squats, Day 8 I did circuit training and Day 9 I did a Zumba class, followed by a Pound class, then a ab class.

My main goal throughout the C9 and going forward is to tone up and get back into shape, weight loss is not a priority to me as much as it was when I last did the C9 as It was about 8 months after I had given birth to Archie.

Since finishing my C9 I have continued my exercise regime, I try to do something everyday. I do four sessions a week with Carlie, who is just the best instructor/personal trainer. She is so motivational and encouraging! I then complete a couple of the 28 minute sweat workouts at home and do my planks and squats everyday. I am so determined to get back in shape!  Well they do say “Summer bodies are made in Winter!”

My Results

Day 1 I weighed myself and was 9 stone and jotted down my chest, bicep, waist, hips, thighs and calves measurements. On Day 9 I weighed 8st 9lbs so a total loss of 5lbs. Although it was the inch loss I was more interested in and in total I lost 11.5 inches in total off of the areas I mentioned above.

If you need any information on any of the Forever Living products and the C9 especially Sophie is on hand to chat through it with you and throughout the 9 days was really encouraging and on the end of the phone if I had any problems or queries. Sophie’s link is HERE.

Our Morning At The Vosene Kids Meet!

A couple of weeks ago during half term Oscar Archie and I went into London to the Dreamworks Shrek’s adventure on the south bank to the Vosene kids meet and trolls event. Vosene have a new collaboration with the brand new and super popular Trolls film. There range of children’s shampoos and detanglers have had a Troll makeover and with each bottle your little one could be in with a chance of winning their very own Troll toy.

When we arrived we went around the Shrek’s adventure experience which we had never been to before. I knew Oscar wild absolutely love it as he loves the Shrek films and also over films by Dreamworks, How to Train a Dragon being one of his favourite films ever! He was so excited in the car on the way. The Shrek’s adventure is absolutely fantastic. You are taken through the tour in groups and to start with me went on a bus to get to ‘far, far away’ which is an amazing 4D experience but we accidentally killed Rumple Stiltskins favourite witch. We then went to visit different characters from the Shrek films to get a potion together so we can get home safely. Honestly it was absolutely brilliant! Archie enjoyed it too although being only 22 months I had to carry him round as you can’t take pushchairs inside.

We had our photo taken at the start of the tour and we had it put into a Shrek journal.

Afterwards we had our photos taken with Shrek and met …. the Troll and then headed into the Vosene event.

Oscar and I had our hair ‘trolled’ which was great fun. Thank goodness it was the same week as Halloween as we did get some funny looks walking back to the car down the south bank with multicoloured hair.

Oscar had great fun taking part in Troll art and craft activities.

We came home with a lovely Troll goodie bag full of Troll toys, a Troll cup, badges, key rings and activity packs as well as the Vosene Troll products to try at home. The four products are the strawberry 2 in 1 shampoo for shiny hair, a conditioning defence spray with natural lice repellent, a 3 in 1 shampoo with lice repellent for super clean hair that smells of tea tree and lemon which I love and the 2 in 1 shampoo which smells of fresh melon. All of the hair products smell amazing, the 3 in 1 being my favourite and Oscar loves the Strawberry 2 in 1 shampoo smell. I have read a lot about the 3 in 1 shampoo and the conditioning defence spray as a lot of parents have raved about them as they both have a natural lice repellent in them which is fantastic. This is one thing I dread having long hair myself that Oscar will bring head lice home now I spray his hair every night in the bath with the conditioning defence spray. I also took it swimming with us when Archie and I go to his lesson on a Friday morning and I sprayed it in my hair and couldn’t believe how easy I managed to brush through my hair after going in the pool full of chlorine before washing my hair when I get home. When we got home from the event the 3 in 1 shampoo got used straight away to wash Oscar’s hair colour out and his hair smelt lovely. We had a great day out thanks to Vosene and Dreamworks and absolutely love all of the products!

Similac Growing Up Milk

After I stopped breastfeeding I started Archie on the growing up milk when he was 12 months old and choose to do so as the growing up milk provided all the key nutrients to support Archie’s toddler growth and development as well as his immune system. When our Similac growing up milk arrived I liked the purple tin and also how big the formula scoop is, as some scoops can be very small and when poured into formula some sticks into the smaller scoop where as the Similac scoop was fine. As soon as it arrived I switched Archie straight over and was anxious that he might notice but he took to the milk straight away with no problems what so ever, to be honest I was surprised how easy it was to switch as I had switched between growing up milks before and Archie pushed the new milk away and I had to revert back to his old one.

Preparing the Similac growing up milk couldn’t be easier. Having the larger scoop is great as you obviously need less scoops per bottle and in the middle of the night this can make a big difference as when I was scooping 7 scoops with his old milk it used to cause a right mess when I was half asleep at 3am! To prepare Archie’s bottles I have always used a bottle preparation machine so making a bottle is quick and easy and only takes two minutes. When preparing Archie’s bottle the instructions are clear and easy to follow with diagrams next to each step. You add one scoop of powder per 60ml and Archie has a 180ml bottle so I simply added three scoops. It is quick and simple to prepare.

When choosing a follow on milk for Archie I spent a while in the baby aisle at our local supermarket comparing the tins. It was important to me that the milk helped support his growth and development and gave him the added nutrients that he needed. The Similac follow on milk ticks so many boxes. It contains vitamins A and C to support you little ones normal immune system function, calcium and vitamin D to support normal growth and development of bone, Iron to support normal cognitive development and normal immune system function and Linoleic acid to support normal growth. On top of that it contains no palm oil, is suitable for vegetarians and is suitable for Halal and Kosher diets.

I also look for a brand that has a big name and Similac has been a trusted, leading brand around the World since 1925. In June of this year Abbott then launched the Similac range in the UK which is on sale exclusively in Boots, online and in store to support us Mum’s in the UK and provide our babies with key ingredients to support their nutritional needs. With the Similac tin of growing up milk, there was a brochure full of information about the growing up milk and the brand heritage and you can see that a lot of attention and thought has gone in to it and this impressed me and reassured me that this was a brand I could trust.

The Similac Growing Up Milk has an RRP of £14.00 and is sold at Boots online or in stores.

So will I be making the switch and sticking with Similac?

The answer is yes. Archie seems to like it and it is slightly quicker to prepare, it also has everything I want in a growing up milk for Archie. I have already ordered another tin and I can order it online and have it delivered to my local small store for next day pick up. I would recommend the Similac Growing Up Milk to other parents as I think once you see the tin and read up on the nutritional information you will see how great it really is!

The Power Of Skin To Skin

*This is a paid advertorial for WaterWipes

WaterWipes recognises that skin to skin bonding is absolutely vital for newborn babies. In their latest video campaign, they’re aiming to prove just how powerful the bond between mother and child truly is. I had caesareans with both Oscar and Archie and it was so important to me that we were given skin to skin contact as soon as possible. As soon as we were home I always made sure when feeding or when we were relaxing at home I always had Oscar or Archie laying on my chest often snuggled in bed together to encourage the bonding process between us as much as possible.

2

WaterWipes have put together a lovely film which through an experiment they have shown clearly the natural power a new mum has to care for her baby. Using infrared filming techniques and equipment to monitor heart rate, breathing and blood oxygen levels, it captures for the first time the biological response to skin to skin contact. The film makes visible the innate ‘superpower’ that every mum has to stabilise her baby’s biology when held in the skin to skin position. The experiment was conducted in collaboration with three first time new mums by world renowned skin to skin expert Dr Susan Ludington.

After watching this lovely film it will show you how amazing nature really is and that all your newborn baby really needs is you…. their Mummy! World-renowned expert on skin to skin Dr Susan Ludington comments that, scientifically, your skin on baby’s skin is a potent combination and can do something absolutely amazing for your baby. I was so surprised watching it how the little baby’s heart beat and vital stats went up and responded when they had skin to skin contact with their Mothers. Dr Susan explains that mums’ bodies are extraordinary. We spend nine months making and then give birth to our baby. Then once baby is born, a mother’s body continues to do incredible things for her baby – she even has the power to regulate baby’s biology simply by holding her baby skin to skin.

3

This video has made me feel that as a Mother by giving both my boys the most skin to skin contact as possible as newborns along with breastfeeding that I have given them the best start to life that I possibly could have. So get cuddling your newborns. As if you needed more of an excuse to snuggle up with them!

Review Of The SmarTrike Explorer 5-trikes-in-1

We were recently picked to be a #littlesmartriker  and we were thrilled! We love being outside and as Archie is getting bigger now it is nice for him to be able to ride in his trike instead if being strapped into his pushchair. Although the British weather has been pretty rubbish for the last few months whenever we have had the chance to get out we have.

Before our trike arrived I did have high expectations as SmarTrike are defiantly the leaders in the trike market and a lot of my friends have them for their babies and have raved about them. Their trikes have multiple awards globally and have been running almost 10 years and within those years have developed amazing trikes that develop with our babies, grow and evolve with them and they are always developing and launching new trikes that will help the development of your child. When a brand are putting that much in to it you know their trikes must be great!

When our Explorer 5-trikes-in-1 arrived it was quick and easy to put together and the instructions were so easy to follow. Within 15 minutes we were ready to go. I put our trike together whilst Oscar was at school so afterwards we could go for a walk and take Archie out in his new trike. The trike itself is really well made and I couldn’t wait to try it out. In the box is:

The Explorer 5-trikes-in-1, storage bag which can fit shopping or a picnic in, an extendable canopy, play phone, bottle holder and a zip mini bag that fits on the handle which is perfect for your phone, purse and keys.

My first impression of the trike was that it is so easy to manoeuvre, it handles just like a stroller would and can be used with one hand. Archie seems really comfortable in the padded seat and if we are out and he has a nap the seat reclines to keep him nice and comfortable and supported. The trike is fine on any surface, at our local park the car park surface is pretty horrendous and I thought it would make Archie bounce all over the place but with the inbuilt suspension it was absolutely fine. The UV extendable protection canopy is large which is great as it keeps the sun out of Archie’s eyes and will keep him protected in the warmer weather (if we get any!) Archie loved being in the trike and is constantly looking around and getting excited as he is at the same height as Oscar when he is running next to him and he is constantly looking up to Oscar and wants to join in with him and now he can.

The trike is suitable from 10 months to 3 years and grows with your child and their needs. The Explorer 5-trikes-in-1 has an RRP of £119.99 and I think is worth every penny for the quality and amount you are getting with your trike! It comes in Red, Grey, Blue, Orange, Purple or Green.

Even space for our picnic blanket!

I really love our SmarTrike and am super impressed with it and can’t wait to have lots of SmarTrike adventures over the Summer! We are going to have so much fun.

i'm a little smartriker

Disclaimer: We were sent the SmarTrike Explorer 5-trikes-in-1 for the purpose of this review, however we really love it and all opinions are honest and my own.

Share Your Ghastro Ghoul or Noro Story To Win A Break To Legoland

Norovirus causes diarrhoea and vomiting and is one of the most common stomach bugs in the UK. As a Mummy to two boys Norovirus is a nightmare! Archie is only 15 months and touch wood we have swerved it so far but Oscar has had it a few times over the last few years. One particular that time that I will always remember was when Oscar was 4 and I had just been for my 20 week scan as I was pregnant with Archie. Oscar had had a fun afternoon playing in the playground as we had met his Nanny for lunch afterwards for lunch. On the way home Oscar said he didn’t feel very well and that he had a tummy ache. I just thought he needed the toilet and told him we would be home in 5 minutes and not to worry. We were literally a couple of minutes from home and Oscar was sick, he was so upset that he had been sick and also worried that he had ruined his car seat. Seeing your little one so upset when they are ill is awful, you just want to switch places with them. Luckily when we arrived home Daddy was there and as it was a warm Summer’s day I took off Oscar’s shorts and tshirt and Daddy lifted him upstairs to give him a shower and get him cleaned up and in fresh clothes. After taking the car seat out of the car and putting the covers in the wash Oscar was in fresh clothes and still feeling really unwell. We gave him plenty of fluid and snuggled on the sofa to watch a DVD.

Dioralyte Family

Within a couple of hours the diarrhoea set in and I Googled what the best remedies were to treat it and rehydrate Oscar as I knew this was really important and Dioralyte came up as the number 1 selling rehydration therapy. I sent Greg out to get some Dioralyte from the chemist.  Dioralyte provides the right balance of mineral salts and water to combat dehydration and rehydrates better than plain water, fruit juice or fizzy drinks and contains essential electrolytes (mineral salts) and works by replacing fluids and body salts lost as a result of acute diarrhoea. By the next morning Oscar was feeling much better and it is amazing how quickly children bounce back after an illness and he very much enjoyed having 48 hours off of school to recover and play! Annoyingly after a day I came down with it as well, which was awful as being pregnant I couldn’t take a thing, only drink loads of water and pray that Oscar didn’t get it back again from me as obviously he was off of school at home with me. Luckily we both recovered after a few days.

You can have a look on the Dioralyte website and if anyone in your family is suffering from sickness or diarrhoea you can find the right product for you to get rid of it as quick as possible. In the range are:

DioraleZe

DioraleZe is a product which can stop the symptoms of diarrhoea in just one dose, it contains Loperamide Hydrochloride, which has an exceptionally rapid onset of action compared with other anti-diarrhoeal drugs. DioraleZe works by slowing down muscle movements in the gut which leads to more water being absorbed from stools. The stools then become firmer and are passed less frequently. NHS guidance recommends taking oral rehydration sachets and anti-diarrhoeal medication as one of the ways in which you can help to treat diarrhoea – taking DioralyteTM and DioraleZe together can help aid a faster recovery time. DioraleZe 2mg capsules RRP £3.49 for 6 capsules and are available from Boots, Asda, Superdrug and independent pharmacies.

Dioralyte

Dioralyte is the number one selling rehydration therapy. It is clinically proven to treat dehydration faster and more effectively than plain water, fruit juice or fizzy drinks, it works by replacing fluids and body salts lost as a result of acute diarrhoea.

Dioralyte comes in three different flavours:

• Blackcurrant

• Citrus

• Natural Dioralyte is suitable from 2 years.

Dioralyte Relief

Dioralyte Relief has a unique formula which reduces the duration of diarrhoea and the time taken to return to normal drinking and eating, thanks to the rice powder. It also treats dehydration faster and more effectively than plain water, fruit juice or fizzy drinks by replacing essential electrolytes (mineral salts) and water – just what your body needs to help you rehydrate and start feeling better. Dioralyte Relief is available in blackcurrant and raspberry flavours. Dioralyte Relief is suitable from 2 years.

I would love for you to share your Ghastro Goul or Noro Story of when somebody in your family was struck by either the Norovirus or Rotavirus. By sharing your story you will be entered in my competition to win an amazing family mini break (2 adults and 2 children) to Legoland Windsor, including centrally located hotel accommodation for one night and tickets to Legoland worth over £560! We went to Legoland ourselves last week and it is amazing! Competition closes Monday 16th May 2016 at 11am.
