Last week Archie turned 3! I can’t quite believe it and just don’t know where the time has gone. Being the second and last child I have definitely noticed more anxiety this time around watching him growing up and I just don’t want to let him go. He is so ready to start nursery and was meant to start next week but I have delayed it a term, as the time got nearer my anxiety went through the roof. He is around children a lot during the week as we go to two toddler groups, a Playball class and his swimming lesson so I know he’s not particularly missing out on anything by staying at home with me. He also needs to be potty trained to start at the nursery as we haven’t quite mastered that yet. I’m not going to lie there is a part of me that just wants him to start next September and just do one full year in nursery before reception.
Looking back Oscar didn’t go to nursery until he was three either, he started nursery on the September after his third birthday going a few mornings a week and did a year in nursery before going into reception. Again we went to lots of classes so he had lots of child interaction. Even now as Oscar’s school holidays draw to a close and he goes back to school next week I start to dread it, as I love having him at home with us and really enjoy the school holidays. During the week he has such a long school day (8.20-4.15) and then after school clubs, reading, piano practice and homework so we don’t have a lot of time during the week to do anything fun. So we make the most of the weekends and holidays.
I think in my crazy mind I think that once Archie starts nursery and he does a couple of mornings which will then lead into days and then suddenly he will be at full time school that I just want to keep him at home for as long as possible as once he starts that’s it. He’s my sidekick and goes everywhere with me so suddenly having free time to myself will be lovely but very strange. My Mother In Law said to me years ago that your children are only lent to you and then they grow up and fly the nest, I get that but it scares my how quick the time goes, Oscar is almost 8 and I wish life would just slow down.
I 100% have an issue with leaving the boys, Oscar was only left once overnight when he was 2 weeks old as it was our best friend’s wedding (he was 3 weeks early) and since then I’ve never had a night apart from either of them. This year my brother is getting married and I was invited on the hen do to Marbella. Now instantly I wanted to go, sit in the sun and have fun with the girls and then my anxiety kicked in. Leaving the boys behind even though I know they would have a fun weekend with Greg and be totally fine, the thought of being in a different country to them made me say no. Even now there is a part of my brain that says don’t be so stupid, go and enjoy yourself! Greg’s been away with his friends loads since we had children and its great to have time just being you!
I know a lot of the problems go back to when Oscar was born and he was poorly and then when he was a few weeks old he couldn’t breathe and I had to clear his airways. It scared me how quickly things can go wrong and since then have always felt safer when they are with us. Which is crazy I know.
Even me reading this post back now and I think ‘crazy lady’ and can see how I am missing out on doing certain things/trips which would be fun. But for now I just want to enjoy our boys whilst they are still young. After all when they are all grown up I will have plenty of time to do other things.
Holy smokes its Batman Day! To hep us celebrate we were kindly sent the amazing DC Super Friends Interactive Power Punch Batman from Golden Bear Toys. Both Oscar & Archie love Batman and it was nice for Archie to have his very own one as most of our Batman toys are Oscar’s.
Our DC Super Friends Interactive Power Punch Batman saved the day. The morning he arrived Archie trapped his little fingers in the front door and was very upset. Literally ten minutes later the delivery man arrived with his Batman which distracted Archie straight away. Batman really saved the day!
The DC Super Friends Interactive Power Punch Batman is a great toy and would make the perfect Christmas or birthday present. It is suitable for children from 10 months old so is the perfect toy for all ages. You can move Batman’s arms and legs around to get him into the perfect stance, ready for action. He makes cool punching noises when his fists hit anything which Archie got really excited about.
If you press his chest he says all of his signature Batman phrases and his eyes light up as he speaks. The DC Super Friends Interactive Power Punch Batman has an RRP of £24.99 and Archie has been carrying him everywhere with him and lights his eyes up when he says in bed with him.
It’s a really great toy with lots of functions and its great for Archie as he is only two to have a Batman toy he can play with as well so he can join in and play with Oscar. He is also super soft to cuddle in bed and you can sponge clean him easily to keep him nice and clean. As Archie carries him around everywhere I have had to clean him up a few times and he looks as good as new.
Disclaimer: We were sent the DC Super Friends Interactive Power Punch Batman for the purpose of Batman Day and this review. However all opinions are honest and my own.
After going to the Lego Batman Movie premiere a couple of weeks ago and only one more sleep until it is released in the cinemas here in the U.K. (eek! and yes we will be going to see it again) I thought I would share with you some of My Lego Batman Movie Favourite Merchandise to go with the film.
Obviously there are the Lego sets and Oscar has been so lucky and has been given the Joker Balloon Escape set (70900) and The Batmobile (70905) which he is in the middle of building but the rest of the sets available have ended up on his birthday list as it’s less than 2 weeks away! Our review will go live over the next few days…
The sets themselves are amazing and we are also collecting the Lego Batman mini figures which are only £2.99 and literally every evening after school he sits building and playing with them. I also brought a huge blue Lego storage brick from John Lewis which is just fantastic. It is massive and can hold his Lego and keep his models safe too away from Archie trying to get at them. We have also brought him the Batcave Break In Set (70909) for his birthday but sssh don’t tell him!
The Lego Batman Movie Minifigure clock by Clic Time are great and Oscar has the Batman edition and it also comes in Robin, Batgirl, The Joker and Harley Quinn. Oscar keeps his near his bed and we have set the daily alarm for 7am but you can activate the snooze function by pushing down on the figures head. It also has a backlight function so Oscar can check the time in the dark. Also in the collection are matching watches which would make great gift and at the moment if you buy a lego clock and watch bundle you can save up to 20%!
The party range from Amscan UK is going to be very popular this year. Once your kids watch the film they will be Lego Batman obsessed like Oscar and will want a matching themed party. With foil balloons, birthday cards and invitations, table cloths, plates, cups, napkins and much more they have everything to throw the perfect Lego Batman party.
Now Oscar is almost 7 he is really into his books and his reading has come on so much in the last year. When we went to the premiere he was given ‘Batman’s Guide To Being Cool‘ by Scholastic which he has really enjoyed reading and is a fun manual to discover your inner cool. It is a fun and light hearted read with lots of nice pictures. I have brought an extra copy for his friend who’s birthday party is next week. We were also given the ‘Lego Batman Movie Ultimate Movie Guide’ by DK Books where inside you can find all the pictures and information on the respective Lego sets and mini figures and everything you need to know about the movie and all of the characters.
I also brought Oscar the Lego Batman torch and matching key ring which he has attached to his school bag and a t-shirt from Next which he wore to watch the movie.
We loved the movie and we love the lego sets and everything that Lego Batman related! The movie is a must see so don’t miss it. You can read my full movie review HERE.
Today Archie is 2! I can’t actually believe it, it only seems like a few months ago that he was born. Time flies!
Archie is a real character as so different to how Oscar was at his age. He is a little rascal. If you say ‘no’ to Archie if he does something naughty he laughs at you, takes absolutely no notice and then says “happy, happy, happy.”
He’s a climber and finds it hilarious to empty the entire contents of my kitchen cupboards and as soon as I put everything back, empty them all over again. He is non stop!
He calls Daddy “Nanny” even though he can say Daddy but thinks it’s funny!
He loves playing with Oscar and it’s nice to watch them sit and play properly together.
It is also nice to see that he is starting to make his own friends now at his toddler groups and recognises them straight away and plays with them as soon as he sees them.
Today we are going to my Nanny’s for a little birthday party with family and a few close friends. As Archie loves Teletubbies I have got a teletubbie cake, balloons and decorations.
To celebrate Archie’s 2nd Birthday Little Tikes have kindly given us a Lil Ocean Explorers 3in1 Adventure Course to give away to one of my readers! It is a great toy and can be used from 6 months until 3 years. So enter below and good luck!
