My First Scalextric Review

A few weeks ago Oscar and Archie were sent the My First Scalextric set to review.  Archie is absolutely obsessed with cars at the moment and I knew he would love a Scalextric set of his own.

The track is super easy to assemble and only tool a couple of minutes which was good as Archie was hoovering over me in excitement ready to play. It is aimed at children aged 3+ and after a few goes with Oscar teaching him Archie had got it and raced around the track without holding the controller at full speed and crashing.

With a five year age gap between the boys it was nice to watch them play with something properly together and have great fun racing against each other. Within the set comes two rally cars; yellow and red although the set is fully compatible with the Micro Scalextric range of sets and cars, allowing you to extend your track and add new cars. I have brought a few more cars for Archie for Christmas to add to his collection.

Scalextric is one of those toys that every generation of our family has owned. My Dad had a huge track with loads of cars when he was little, then my brother had a track and now my boys. As they get older we want to build a huge track and have a Scalextric room in the loft where they can keep their rack out and race over and over again. Scalextric is a proper traditional family toy that every age group can enjoy and is always a great gift at Christmas as you can have a lots of races with all the family!

The controls have magnatraction technology helps to keep the cars on the track, and variable hand-controllers allow the speed of racing to be adjusted depending on skill level which is great when you have your little racers starting out for the first time.

The My First Scalexric set is only £39.99 and there is free standard delivery over £30!

Hot Wheels® Roto Revoluation™ Track Set Review

Oscar is seven, almost eight and has been a fan of Hot Wheels since he was about three or four. We have lots of different track sets and with Archie turning three in a few weeks he absolutely loves cars and plays with the tracks too. When we were contacted by Hot Wheels to see if we would like to review the Hot Wheels® Roto Revoluation™ Track Set I knew both the boys would be ecstatic!

The Roto Revolution Track Set includes 2 launchers and 2 Hot Wheels cars. The track is quick and simple to put together and required 4 x D batteries to keep the Roto Revoluation spinning around and around. The instructions are easy to follow and we were up and running within a few minutes.

The Hot Wheels sets are evolving all the time and this set in particular is great fun. The concentration on the boys faces trying to aim and shoot the car at the right time is so funny and they both got quite competitive. Once you get perfect timing your car flies around the loop the loop and crashes into your opponents car. The car remaining in the loop wins. You can set up a full blown battle against your friends. Fun that lasts for hours!

Its great fun and Oscar got me challenging him too, you really have to focus and be accurate to get your car on to the loop. I was surprised how good Oscar was at it and he patiently taught Archie as well.

Needless to say the boys absolutely love this track set and would make a fantastic Christmas present for any Hot Wheels fan! The track is aimed at children aged 5+ although Archie played with it easily. It is only £34.99 an Amazon.

Our Morning At The PJ Masks Halloween Party

We had such an exciting morning yesterday I drove the boys into London to the Picturehouse Central in Piccadilly for a PJ Masks Halloween Party. Oscar and Archie dressed as Catboy and both watch the show so they were very excited.

When we arrived we went into a room full of PJ Masks themed activities. The boys made their own masks on the craft table, Oscar had his face painted, had balloon swords made and got to play with the new range of PJ Masks toys which are all on Archie’s Christmas list. He kept picking up all of the toys and saying “me home”. He wasn’t very happy when we had to leave them in the room. We then got to meet Catboy, Gecko and Owlette. All of the children’s faces were a picture as they were all so excited to meet their favourite TV heroes.

The children also got to take part in a Diddi Dance class which was great fun who are now in partnership with PJ Mask’s and are holding a Super Dance Party in all of their classes across the UK from Monday 30th October to Sunday 5th November to raise funds for the Youth Sport Trust  which is a national children’s charity dedicated to transforming the lives of children and young people through the power of sport and physical activity. For more
information about how you can take part, head over to:

https://www.diddidance.com/pj-masks-super-dance-party

We then went into the cinema and got a sneak preview of two brand new unseen episodes and the trailer from the new series. With fantastic new adventures and exciting new characters this is set to be an amazing series. You can catch the brand-new episodes on Disney Junior every day at 5.45pm and on Wednesdays throughout November and December! Don not miss it! I’ve already set up my series link on record!

There is also a range of fantastic new PJ Masks products are launching at retailers nationwide and will be in stores ready for Christmas. The boys were so lucky to receive a ginormous bag of PJ Mask’s goodies with some of the new merchandise inside and a PJ Mask’s balloon sticking out of the top.

They each were given a PJ Masks Twist Top Bottle which is RRP £4.49. A copy of the PJ Masks Magazine, which is a monthly magazine which is £2.99 with bumper issues at £3.99. A copy of the PJ Mask’s 2018 annual which is RRP £7.99. I used to love getting an annual at Christmas! A PJ Masks Time to Be a Hero Fleece Blanket which is RRP £9.99 and is super soft and snuggly. The PJ Masks: Time to Be a Hero DVD which will have already watched three times! It is RRP £9.99 and would make a perfect stocking filler. PJ Mask’s box of puzzles which are 3+ and perfect for Archie as he is really into puzzles at the moment. The box which contains four puzzles is only RRP £5.99.

Much to Archie’s excitement they were each given a PJ Masks Vehicle & Figure Assist Pack and got the Catboy version so he was very pleased to have his own PJ Mask’s toy. The rest he will have to wait for Christmas to get. The pack is RRP £13.99 with five different ones to collect.

Also in the goodie bag was an Owlette PJ Masks Bean Plush toy. It is the perfect size to cuddle in bed and also fit in a bag to take around with you. Characters available include the fast and agile Cat Boy, the high flying hero Owlette, the super climber with super strength Gekko, and villains Luna Girl and Romeo. They are RRP £8.99 each.

Last but not least was a PJ Masks Blind Bag. These are great at only RRP £2.69 they are nice little treats and each bag containing a surprise character. You can collect all the characters in the PJ Masks world and look out for the ultra rare character!

Everything is available at all major retailers and online on Amazon.

Like I said we had the most fantastic day and the boys absolutely loved it! We can’t wait to see the rest of the new series! Thank you PJ Mask’s!

Peppa Pig’s My First Cinema Experience Out Now On DVD & Digital Download

When we went to see Peppa Pig’s My First Cinema Experience it really was Archie’s first cinema experience at the Vue cinema in Watford. Archie loves Peppa Pig and whenever the TV is on Archie always asks for ‘Peppa’. Oscar loved Peppa when he was younger too but Archie is obsessed! As soon as I saw it advertised I knew we had to take him!

Image result for peppa pig my first cinema experience

So you can imagine the excitement on his little face when a huge bundle of Peppa Pig goodies were delivered so that we could have our very own Peppa Pig’s My First Cinema Experience party in our own home as it is now available on DVD & Digital Download. Sky also have a buy and keep service so you can download it straight away and it’s saved on your box and then they also send you out the DVD in the post.

Take part in one whole hour of fun, featuring nine brand new episodes of
Peppa Pig. Join Peppa on her first ever trip to London, as she visits The Queen
and splashes in some London puddles. Other adventures include an Australian
holiday to visit Peppa’s old friend Kylie Kangaroo, a trip to the Zoo, an
encounter with the Police, a new music lesson and sailing on a canal boat with
Captain Daddy Dog!

In between the episodes there is lots of interactive fun which will get your little ones up out of their seat as they dance and sing along to the songs! Daisy, George and Peppa’s friend interacts with the children, asking them questions and plays hide and seek and Archie shouts at the television to show her where the hidden objects are. They also sing along to one of Archie’s all time favourites, the ‘Wheels on the Bus’ and famous ‘The Muddy Puddles Song’.

Archie was so lucky to be sent such a HUGE bundle of Peppa Pig goodies which included some muddy puddles biscuit which he ate out of his new china Peppa bowl whilst he watched the DVD drinking a carton of Peppa juice. Snuggled under his George fleece blanket with his George cushion. We were also sent some fantastic Peppa party ware to make our DVD party extra special which I will be getting more of for Archie’s 3rd birthday in a couple of months.

He loves his special personalised Peppa Penwizard party book and we had lots of fun colouring and sticking his stickers in the afternoon. Archie as you well know isn’t the best sleeper so I am hoping his new Peppa Inflatable nightlight will help him see when it is time to wake up.

The DVD would make the perfect stocking filler for any little Peppa fan and I love how the DVD isn’t just Archie watching the television he really gets into the interactive parts dancing and singing all around the playroom.

You can order the DVD on Amazon for only £8 or download it through the App Store for £9.99.

Disclaimer: We were sent the above mentioned DVD and goodies but all opinions are honest and my own.

Image result for willows activity farm

I can’t believe were nearly in November. Anyone that knows me knows that I LOVE Christmas. After all it is the most magical time of year and I do my best to make it as magical as possible for Oscar and Archie.

Last Christmas we visited Willow’s Activity Farm and met Father Christmas during their Santa Spectacular event. The boys had an amazing day and their were so many activities to do as well as meeting the big man himself! Every child will have a chance to meet Santa in his spectacular grotto and receive a golden key to Santa’s Toy Shop, they can then choose from hundreds of toys. The excitement on the kids faces when you go into Santa’s toy shop is amazing.

Willow’s is somewhere we visit a lot as its only 10 miles from where we live. In fact we went last week with our toddler group.

This festive season, Santa Spectacular at Willows Activity Farm is the only event for families looking for a truly magical day out. Starting from 22 November – 24 December, you can enjoy the ultimate festive experience in St. Albans, Hertfordshire.

You can join in at the Elf Academy, learning the basics of how to be an elf from Santa’s elves all the way from the North Pole – including the Elf-a-bet! The Create-a-Cuddle workshop will also be open daily, allowing little ones to make their very own reindeer cuddly toy to take home, all included in the entrance price.

The popular 3D film is back, with children able to take off into the skies on an adventure with Santa, this was super impressive last year! Then try a real life magical ride in the Willows festive wood on Tristan the Runaway Tractor. Tristan the tractor is Archie’s favourite! Indoors there is the synthetic ice rink, Christmas shows including an Elf Sing-a-Long and Nativity performances featuring farm animals. Plus, meet Mischka, the Alaskan Malamute and Santa’s reindeer. It is a seriously jam packed fun filled day out for the whole family to enjoy!

As well as all of the above the usual activities are open as well; The Farmyard, Peter Rabbit Adventure Playground™,  the indoor soft play areas, the funfair rides, bouncing haystacks, Peter Rabbit woodland play trail, the big dig, trampolines, cotton-tail village and so much more! As well as plenty of places to grab something to eat or drink.

The lovely team at Willow’s Activity Farm have kindly given me a family ticket to be used during their Santa Spectacular (22 November – 24 December) and have a magical day out! So enter below and good luck!

DC Super Friends Interactive Power Punch Batman Review

Holy smokes its Batman Day! To hep us celebrate we were kindly sent the amazing  DC Super Friends Interactive Power Punch Batman from Golden Bear Toys. Both Oscar & Archie love Batman and it was nice for Archie to have his very own one as most of our Batman toys are Oscar’s.

Our DC Super Friends Interactive Power Punch Batman saved the day. The morning he arrived Archie trapped his little fingers in the front door and was very upset. Literally ten minutes later the delivery man arrived with his Batman which distracted Archie straight away. Batman really saved the day!

The DC Super Friends Interactive Power Punch Batman is a great toy and would make the perfect Christmas or birthday present. It is suitable for children from 10 months old so is the perfect toy for all ages. You can move Batman’s arms and legs around to get him into the perfect stance, ready for action. He makes cool punching noises when his fists hit anything which Archie got really excited about.

If you press his chest he says all of his signature Batman phrases and  his eyes light up as he speaks. The DC Super Friends Interactive Power Punch Batman has an RRP of £24.99 and Archie has been carrying him everywhere with him and lights his eyes up when he says in bed with him.

It’s a really great toy with lots of functions and its great for Archie as he is only two to have a Batman toy he can play with as well so he can join in and play with Oscar. He is also super soft to cuddle in bed and you can sponge clean him easily to keep him nice and clean. As Archie carries him around everywhere I have had to clean him up a few times and he looks as good as new.

Disclaimer: We were sent the DC Super Friends Interactive Power Punch Batman for the purpose of Batman Day and this review. However all opinions are honest and my own.

Putting Your Families Health First At One Stop Doctor

As a parent your children are always your main priority and when they fall ill or hurt themselves you always want the best care for them. I know from previous experience I have sometimes had to wait a day or two for a GP appointment and getting a dentist appointment is like gold dust, our last NHS appointment was delayed two times because of funding. Luckily for us there is a pioneering new healthcare clinic ‘The One Stop Doctor’ that has recently launched in Hemel Hempstead, Hertfordshire that is putting the needs of families at the heart of their quick and friendly services. The clinic is stunning, more like a five star hotel and the staff are all so welcoming and friendly.

One Stop Doctors in Hemel Hempstead is open 365 days a year from early morning to late evening with a full complement of paediatric services all under one roof. This includes same-day appointments with GPs and dentists who will be able to offer immediate relief for worrying mums and dads whose children are unwell, perhaps with persistent fevers, colds, chesty coughs or toothache. There’s also a private pharmacy that can provide commonly needed drugs straight away.

Only a couple of weeks ago Archie had a high temperature and his little heart was beating quite fast, which is a common symptom of a fever. Greg thought we should take him to A & E but I called the One Stop Doctor for a late night appointment which was available with no problem at all.

The team of multi-disciplinary health professionals at the clinic are highly experienced in treating common childhood conditions from feeding difficulties in babies and toddlers through to providing allergy testing and advice, alongside treatment for asthma and access to the full range of childhood vaccinations and immunisations. This is fantastic as in our area we were not offered the BCG and I paid privately for both Oscar and Archie to be immunised but had to travel into London. Now having a clinic so local to us is a god send!

One Stop Doctors is one of a number of outlets nationwide that offers the Mummy MOT, a one-hour assessment which gives a thorough examination of mum’s pelvic floor strength and tummy gap – to assess any physical problems that have arisen from pregnancy and birth. The Mummy MOT can also help mums years after childbirth with their pelvic floor strength. The clinic is also putting together special Mother and Baby packages for both expectant mothers and mothers of young children. No more travelling all the way into London for Mother and Baby services!

The specialist dental team are also experts in orthodontics and oral health with a variety of teeth-straightening options for young ones and appointments at convenient times for parents.

The clinic has invested heavily in the latest diagnostic imaging machinery including advanced MRI scanning equipment, CT, ultrasound and digital X-ray, which means that One Stop Doctors is able to offer an on-site urgent care and fracture clinic. We were at a birthday party about six weeks ago and Oscar’s friend fell off a swing and her parents on a Friday night at 7pm got an X-Ray appointment straight away instead of waiting for hours in a busy Friday night A & E department. She was then plastered straight away.

One Stop Doctors is fully accredited by all major regulators and private medical insurance companies, such as Bupa, Aviva and Cigna so it’s easy to pay, and is approved by the Care Quality Commission. However, what makes this pioneering clinic truly unique is its one-of-a-kind membership plan. This allows families to join for only £65 a month and gives them the ability to spread the cost of treatment in a payment plan, with no interest or credit agreement and provides guaranteed same-day GP appointments for any number of children aged 21 and under. This means that parents can spread the cost of healthcare for their children, making the very best private healthcare accessible and affordable.

Keep Your Family Happy & Healthy!

With the ability for parents to book appointments directly, and the large amount of free parking available to patients right outside the clinic, many of the usual stresses of visiting a medical establishment with children are taken away.

For more information and to book an appointment visit www.onestopdoctors.co.uk or call 0800 852 1234.

Hitchin Lavender Farm

I have wanted to go to Hitchin Lavender Farm for a few weeks since I saw lots of beautiful family photos amongst the lavender rows on Instagram but as the weather has been so awful we hand’t got to go. So on Sunday as the Sun was shining we decided to make the 30 minute journey. I packed my new Olympus Pen 8 and tripod and off we went.

Hitchin Lavender is a lavender farm attraction close to both London and Cambridge and they have 25 miles of lavender rows which you can walk through and pick your own fresh flowers from. When we arrived we parked up and paid only £11 for the four of us to get in and we got given a bag and scissors to pick and collect our own Lavender. Adults are £5.00 (picking included), Under 14’s are £1 and Under 5’s are free. You can buy additional bags to fill for £4.

The farm is open from 10am until 5pm every day throughout the season which runs from mid June until early September.

As soon as we got to the field, the smell was amazing! I love the smell of Lavender. The boys enjoyed picking their lavender and filling up their brown bags and we took so many great photos. You can also pay £50 for a professional photo shoot but if you have a good camera and a tripod you can get some great pictures.

We had a great morning, captured lots of great photos and it was a really cheap and fun family day out. We will be going back next Summer and making our family photo in the lavender rows an annual thing!

My Daily Skincare Routine & The Products I Use

In under 7 months I am 30! I remember on my 21st Birthday Greg saying to me that my 20’s will fly by and that is exactly what has happened! Obviously a lot of amazing things have happened since then but never the less I can’t believe I am nearly 30. One thing I have always tried to do from an early age is look after my skin. I am one of those people that am worried about ageing and always try to take good care of my skin. This is a first for me as my blog has always really been based around the boys but I want to start writing about being a Mummy too and what I like and what I do. So I thought I would start my telling you a bit about my daily skincare routine and what products I use.

Me at 21!

A lot of the products that I use have been recommended to me when I go for a facial or I have read great reviews and decided to give them a try, loved them and stuck with them.

My Morning Routine

When I get up in the morning before I put my make up on I cleanse and tone my face using the Guinot Lait Hydra Fraicheur Refreshing Cleansing Gel Milk and the Guinot Lotion Hydra Fraicheur Refreshing Toning Lotion with cotton wool pads. They are £19.50 each and probably last about 4-6 weeks. I also use these in the evening along with their eye makeup remover as the cleanser and tone cleanses and removes your make-up, freeing the skin of all impurities. It also softens and refreshes the skin, leaving your skin feeling super soft.
I then wash my face using the Dr Russo SPF30 sun protective day cleanser. You simply wash your face leave then massage the face wash in for a couple of minutes and then rinse off. This then gives you SPF30 protection which is so important to keep your skin healthy and looking young. Up to 80% of premature ageing is due to sun damage and even in the UK where you might not think the sun is damaging you, it still can. I also have the SPF30 sun protective moisturiser which is great and really light too so you can use it and then continue with your usual skincare routine. The protective day cleanser is £52 for a 100ml tube and the day moisturiser is £95 for a 50ml tube.

I then use the Guinot Longue Vie Yeux Eye Lifting Cream. It is really good and I use a small bit around my eyes and in between my eyebrows in a figure if eight motion. The eye-lifting cream eliminates visible wrinkles & fine lines and firms the skin around your eyes for an instant lift. It also soothes away dullness & puffiness which I need as Archie still wakes up sometimes four times a nigh and gently calms & hydrates the eye areas. I have tried lots of different eye creams before but this is by far one of the best.

I then use the ESPA Tri-Active Advanaced Instant Facial which is £58 for a 30ml bottle. It smells amazing like all of the ESPA range (I am obsessed with their soothing candle and diffuser, they are all over my house) and feels absolutely amazing on my skin. It is an advanced age-defying 3-in-1 serum, essence and treatment oil to instantly smooth and hydrate while brightening the complexion, for skin that is revitalised and glowing. The spa I go to Mulberry’s in Beaconsfield use the Espa and Guinot products and I have never been disapointed. The Antioxidant Macrolage Cell Extract in the cream helps smooth the appearance of fine lines, the White Truffle Extract helps boost elasticity, while Coconut, Jojoba and Avocado Oils help nourish and strengthen skin’s moisture barrier. It really is an amazing cream and I think worth every penny.

I then use my ESPA 24 hour replenishing moisturiser on top to moisturise my face for the day. It is £46 for a 55ml and leaves your face feeling soft and supple ready to apply your makeup. I then apply my makeup which I will write up in a different post. It smells amazing too!

My Evening Routine

Before I get in the shower I use my Guinot eye makeup remover and the cleanser and toner to remove all my makeup and cleanse my skin. Every other evening I then use the Guinot Gommage Eclat Parfait Perfect Radiance Exfoliating Cream either in the shower or take off with a warm cloth which is £32.50 for a 50ml tube. When I went for a facial sometime ago I went through my skin care routine with the therapist and she couldn’t believe I didn’t exfoliate. Basically unless you exfoliate a few times a week then all the great products you use on your skin do not work properly as the exfoliator removes all of your dead skin cells allowing your moisturiser in to your skin properly. Ever since then I use it every other evening.

Guinot Gommage Eclat Parfait Perfect Radiance Exfoliating Cream 50ml

After I get out of the shower I use either my Guinot eye cream or my Elemis pro-collagen eye renewal cream if its been a long day and my eyes are puffy. It firms, smooths and nourishes the skin around your eyes and I have noticed it is especially good at soothing your eyes. It is £63 for 15ml but you only need a small amount and it will last for ages.

Also another great product that I use from Elemis is the Hydra-Boost Serum. This is great if you have been out in the sun or haven’t drunk enough water that day as it replenishes the skin and instantly hydrates, softens and nourishes the skin. I love it! it is £45 for 30ml.

I then use the Creme De La Mer The Moisturising Soft Cream which is the best moisturiser ever! When you wake up your skin feels as soft as baby skin. It is on the pricey side as it starts at £115 for a 30ml pot all the way up to £1500 for a 500ml pot. I have the 30ml pot and you only need a small amount. I expect it will last about 6 months. It’s advanced Moisturising Sphere technology allows this luxurious formula to penetrate deeply, replenishing moisture and strengthening the look of skin. Skin appears renewed and energised, youthfully radiant. As they say you get what you pay for and this cream is an example of that!

My Going Out Skin Care Routine

If I am going out my skin care routine is exactly the same except in the shower I would always use my Glam Glow Flash Mud Brightening Treatment. It is £39 for a 50g pot. It leaves your skin instantly vibrant and when you apply your makeup afterwards just gives you that extra glow. It is a multi-sensorial quick results brightening treatment. Powerful & Innovative multi-brightening complexes help to create the brightest, lightest & luminous perfect skin. The Teaoxi Technology in it is White Birch Leaf. It delivers natural Betulin, Betulinic Acid & Ellagic Acid to create an improved color balanced skin tone. WhiteEnergi  is a brilliant fusion of powerful natural actives to create intense bright & even results. Flashlucent™ is a combination of skin translucency optimizers featuring 3 levels of exfoliation to drive ingredients into the skin for luminous younger looking skin. Reflectrum™ is a blend of brightening ingredients boosted with diamond photoluminescence to increase the reflecting level of the skin and make it appear radiant & more attractive.

I would then use one my eye creams and the Espa Tri Active Instant Facial cream, its really smooth and doesn’t leave a residue once you have put on your primer and foundation.

I hope you have enjoyed this post as it’s a slightly different one for me.

Our Holiday To The Sensatori Resort In Ibiza

Sensatori Ibiza

When I started looking for our Summer holiday a few months ago as Archie is two and a half and won’t sit still we thought it was a better option to pick somewhere with a shorter flight like we did last year. I went onto the Thomson website and as we have stayed at two of their 5* Sensatori resorts before in Crete and Tenerife I thought the Sensatori Ibiza one would be great location wise and the only thing that worried me was the size of the rooms in the photos. The rooms/suites we had before at the Tenerife and Crete hotels were lovely, spacious and what a proper 5* room should be like. I rang the Thomson help line and they reassured me that a double/family room would be big enough.

So on Saturday the 8th of July, the day after Oscar broke up from school we flew from Luton to Ibiza. Prior to our flights I had booked the Luton Priority Lane which I couldn’t recommended higher especially if you are travelling with children. For only £3 per person you can use the Priority Lane dedicated to getting you to Security and into Departures faster. It literally took us five minutes to go through with no queues at all. I will be using this every time we fly from Luton from now on without a doubt! You don’t have to pre book you can pay £5 per person on the day to use the priority lane.

Our flight was at 7am so we arrived at the Sensatori Ibiza resort at about midday. The transfer from the airport was only 20 minutes which was great! Our rooms weren’t ready until 3pm so I grabbed the swimming stuff out of one of the cases and we headed to the main buffet restaurant for lunch. As it is an all-inclusive resort you can eat and drink as much as you want and there are a couple of extra payable restaurants on the resort if you wanted to book. There are also …. other restaurants that are included in your package which you can book at the kiosk in reception. We went to the main pool and had a swim and some drinks and then walked down to the beach to see what it was like.

One thing we picked up on immediately is that there are hills everywhere! Anywhere you want to walk to on the resort involves walking up a hill. When we got to the beach it is beautiful, the sea is crystal clear, you can hire jet skis and book water sports and there are some lovely restaurants in the cliffs and on the beach.

Once our room was ready we headed to our room which was in block 9 furthest from everything except the retreat which was only up the hill which we used for the whole holiday instead of the main pool anyway. More about that in a minute. There are also no lifts in the blocks, luckily we had a ground floor room so everyone with rooms upstairs had to leave their pushchairs outside the blocks.

So we got to our room and I was genuinely shocked at how small it was and then on further inspection how filthy it was. I complained at reception and asked to change rooms but as it is peak season they had no rooms to move us too. A few days into the holiday we were offered a family room with a sliding door for an extra 800 euros, we went to look at the room at it was no bigger just configured differently with a sliding door so the boys would be separate. How they can justify asking 800 euros for literally a sliding partition door is a joke and we turned it down. To be honest after a few days we got used to it but as Oscar is at private school we can get our holidays cheaper as its outside of state school holidays and when I did a comparison and it would have been almost £6000 for the identical holiday in August I would not have been happy with the room at all if we had paid that sort of money. Even for us paying a bit less than that is too much in my opinion for the standard of the hotel compared to Tenerife and Crete!

Now on a positive note just up the hill is the retreat. You can also get a free shuttle bus from reception if you don’t want to walk anymore hills. The retreat is fantastic! It has two normal swimming pools, a children’s splash pool, tennis courts, archery, football pitch, kids playgrounds and a spa. Also at the retreat is a buffet restaurant so if your there all day you can get lunch there too. The lunch is the same most days so if you want to change it up a bit you can go to the main buffet which has loads of choice. Also by the children’s splash pool is a big freezer full of ice creams and the kids can just help themselves (obviously after asking us first) to an ice cream. The retreat also do water orb sessions that you can book on to and we also booked the tennis courts for an hour as well which is all included. The prestige spa is amazing and I had a Swedish massage and it was one of the best I’ve ever had. Massages are around 90 euros.

They have a nursery and kids club on site but I can’t give you a review as we didn’t use them. There is also a kids sleepover club once a week and a movie club in the evenings. If you children like kids club then there were a lot of activities on offer.

Opposite the retreat is a supermarket that sells inflatable toys, gifts, clothes, snacks and drinks which is great and about half a mile down the road is a pharmacy if you need it. There is also a doctor on site that is 90 euros a visit, I got an ear infection after diving in the pool and you can claim the money back once your home on your travel insurance.

In the evenings there is a play house live show which is indoors for the younger children but Oscar who is 7 didn’t want to go as it was a bit young for him. The evening show then didn’t start until 9.45pm and really they could do with putting on a little show/disco for children aged 5 upwards to enjoy as there is nothing really to entertain that age group in the evening without putting them into a club. The main shows in the evening are hit and miss, when they bring in tribute acts; we had Robbie Williams and Jesse J they were great but the Sensatori shows weren’t great. We often left half way through.

We booked one of the extra restaurants included in our package, the Trattoria La Torre restaurant which is an Italian, the food was lovely. The food in the main buffet and the retreat was always good and tons of choice in the main restaurant as well. Other restaurants on the resort are the Sunset Mediterranean restaurant, the Pan-American restaurant which in total are the four restaurants included in the all-inclusive package and at an extra cost you can book the T-Beach restaurant and the Le Souk restaurant. You can look on the Thomson website as to what restaurant serves what type of food.

On one evening we booked the Cotton Club restaurant which is on the cliff by the beach. It is a beautiful restaurant and is famous for having the best sunset on the Island. The food was amazing and the sunset was fantastic. If you go to the reception in the hotel they will book it for you. It is a bit on the expensive side for a family of four with no alcohol it was around 200 euros. It was a lovely treat!

On three occasions after dinner we got a taxi from reception to Ibiza town which is 80 euros there and back and takes 25 minutes to get to, but well worth the trip. There is a beautiful port with some fantastic super yachts docked in it. There is also a beautiful square in the town with lovely shops and places to get a coffee. On all three occasions we went and sat outside of the Cafe Montesol Ibiza where we had ice cream and coffees. It’s a beautiful hotel! On the way back the taxi driver showed us a few of the gigantic night clubs that we drove past. We couldn’t get over the size of the club called privilege that can hold over 10,000 people at any one time! Crazy!

Overall we had a lovely holiday and the boys loved the water slides at the retreat and spent all day long in the pool. The hotel rooms in my opinion were not up to scratch and I am surprised that they claim they are a 5* hotel. The food was great, the staff were lovely especially in the restaurants, they were so friendly. The cleanliness of the rooms is awful, in fact after a few days we only let the maid change the sheets and towels and we cleaned the floor with floor wipes (the floors were black with dirt) and cleaned the rest of the room ourselves. Location wise it was good and the beach is beautiful. I would defiantly go back to Ibiza as the island is beautiful and we loved the town but I wouldn’t stay at the Sensatori resort again unfortunately. Next time when I book a Sensatori holiday I will do more research on the rooms etc as after going to the other resorts in Crete and Tenerife we expected the same level of luxury and room size which Ibiza doesn’t offer.
